I trusted this kid (let's just pretend his name is john...) with the info that i liked someone in our class. I have been friends with john since kindergarden. john started telling random people but denied it. i think through john, the kid that i liked found out i liked him. the kid that i liked blew me off unintentionally, and things have been fairly normal ever since. i was still friends with john, the kid i liked had no idea what he said, so we're friends again. now, we sell carnations at our school as a fund raiser, and they get delivered on valentines day. my friend was selling carnations during her lunch shift, john came up and asked for a carnation to buy, and also asked her not to look at it. being curious, she did, and it was addressed to me, and signed not by john, but by the kid i like. (for those of you who are not following, john was planning to prank me.) now, i can't thank my friend enough for warning me, and i act normal around john, and i plan to act that way until....

valentines day. i can then either, pretend like nothing happened, give him the cold shoulder, or blow up in his face. i will keep in mind the embarassment he might have caused me if i had not known it to be a prank. any suggestions for the way i should react after valentines day? (sorry for this being so long)

you should definitely confront john...if you two are supposed to be friends then he should not be doing this to you...it is just mean. It might be time to ditch him as a friend. It is like that saying "With friends like that who needs enemies"

This may sound weird to you, but it sounds to me like John has a thing for you. Have you considered that? It sounds like he might be kind of trying to scare this other guy off, or get him away from you. i mean, if you had walked up to the guy you like to thank him for a carnation he did not buy you, that would have been awkward and uncomfortable. Then John would have been there to comfort you. Maybe you should take a look at other things John has done...is he trying to get your attention? Best wishes!

Can your friend get in trouble with the school for telling you that John was the one who sent the carnation to you? If she can, just ignore the situation and pretend nothing happened. If John brings it up just shrug and say "That was nice of him, I didn't really expect it.. I don't know what to say to him...I'm pretty embarrassed." and leave it at that. Don't really talk to him after that, if he wants to talk/hang out with you, pretend you already have plans or you are doing something important at home... don't show him that something is bothering you and you are mad at him. He should eventually get bored and move on with his life.

This guy is a chump. He has abused your trust. Tell him you know about the joke, how much it sucks. Then get over him. There are heaps of chumps in the world and they aren't worth your time or happiness. That said, don't you act like him, if he is honestly sorry and remorseful, then forgive him. Just don't make the same mistake in telling him anything sensitive to you.

I would just act the same if the prank doesn't bother you nor cause you embarrassment then it's a failure.
