Yesterday evening, my cat Sarah was sitting in my lap when she suddenly jumped onto the floor and began meowing and running around.
I attempted to calm her down, but she continued to run around an cry. Several seconds latter, she ran behind my chair and, as I walked around to see if she was alright, she made a sound that can be best described as a loud "pop" and stuff came out of both of her ends simultaneously.
Following this, she gave me a rather sheepish look and ran into "her" closet. After I confirmed that she was not in any distress I left her alone and she eventually emerged from the closet.
She didn't appear to have any problems throughout the night and seems to have not had any difficulty throughout the day. I've had Sarah for fifteen years and she has never done anything like this before.
I'm considering bringing her to the vet but really don't have the money to do so.
Is this normal or should I get Sarah to a vet???

Beyond the cost, I also worry about bringing Sarah to the vet due to the fact that she becomes distressed when in a moving vehicle. This distress is so severe that she has blacked out in the past and needs to be given a sedative. I'm sure that this can't be good for her.
Additionally, she just went to the vet in December.
With these worries in mind, I called the vet today [I asked the question yesterday] and he seems to think that, since she likes sugary things, she may have drunk soda or eaten something with yeast. Since he says cats can't burp, the pop was likely the release of the resulting stomach gases.
I was concerned for Sarah's health but also didn't want to subject her to an unnecessary car ride or incur the unnecessary expenses.
As for her age, she may be 15, but she can still bring me all manner of critters and jump six feet to my window sill to signal that she wants to be let in.
