My Dog has been an outside dog his whole life (4 years) and he has had his same house that amount of time. The last few days he seems really scared to go into the house. All he will do is spin around in circles outside his house and get tangled up in his chain, I have to go out there everynight and help him. I wish he would go into his house and I hope that he doesn't choke himself by spinning in circles. PLEASE HELP ME thanks

Could there possibly be an opossum or a raccoon or some other wild creature that has gotten in there and scared him?
Is he warm enough? (I am assuming after 4 years that he is, but just need to cover all bases)
The only thing I can think of is that an oppossum, or a raccoon, or a rat or some other wild creature got in there and left it's scent and he doesn't want to mess with it.
Try sanitizing it with a bleach and water solution and see if that helps??

Something apparently scared him. It could have been a little rodent, rabbit or something of that sort. A lot of little critters will take shelter. He may think it's still in there. Keep a close watch on him, as he will end up choking himself. Give his house a thorough check to make sure all is safe for him. Then encourage him to go inside. Bribe him with food if you have to. When he does, praise him.

Are you sure it is not a spinning caused by a seizure?

Is the dog circling in one direction...but doesn't seem to be chasing his tail?

There may be more to it than you think...

My one dog started doing this around the age of 6, and turned out she was having seizures...

Unfortunately you are not going to get an easy answer to this question. It could be some many different things. I would recommend calling your vet if your dog is acting abnormal in any way. This could be a medical condition or behavioral. Either way your vet will help determine the cause and hopefully provide an answer.

There must be a scemt from another animal in his crate. It could be another dog's scent, or a wild animal scent like a skunk, or a possum. Check the dog house out closely and see if there is anything strange in there.

It could be that some other animal has claimed his dog house as their own. He may be scared to go in because of fear of the more dominent male.

You house is haunted and your dog can sense the malevolent spirits.
