Hi, sorry to hear that your son has ringworm.
Thankfully, it's nothing too serious. It's the same kind of infection as athlete's foot, and can be cured in a few days with "Tinactin" brand spray. (You know, "Tough actin' Tinactin", for athlete's foot, lol). Don't cover the spot up with a band-aid, or anything like that. It needs to dry, and be exposed to light, to heal.
I caught ringworm a few years ago, on my arm. I'm pretty sure I caught it from a puppy who wasn't vaccinated (I used to volunteer with the humane society). I imagine it would be contagious, since I caught it from a puppy. But, if it's treated right away, it poses no real physical threat. It's just embarrassing to have!
I'd call your son's daycare provider tomorrow morning, explain the situation, and see if she'll want him in her class while he's infected. But don't worry, if you start treating him with Tinactin tonight (you can buy it at Wal-Mart, or any drugstore, in the "foot care" section), he should be all cleared-up within 3-4 days.
Good luck!

I am a childcare provider. In most cases if a child gets something or is sick they should stay home at least 24 hrs before they come to childcare. some even ask for a docs note before you go back. I am not sure what causes it, but you really should ask a doc about all that before you take your son back. I know its hard for working parents, buts in the best interest of all the other kids. You are very thoughtful. most parents bring their kids to daycare even when they are really sick and than everyone Else gets sick.

He is contagious and no don't take him to daycare until it is cured.
Ringworm is a fungus infection. Can get it from dirt and animals and other children.
If it is left too long, it will grow and be harder to get rid of. If it is on the head, he can lose his hair temporarily.
Get it treated.
Here's more info for you.

Ringworm is very contagious my grandson gets it alot from wrestling in school and kids have it and they have contact and he gets it. My daughter just goes to the pharmacy and you can buy a cream to get over it. You don't need a prescription.
No he shouldn't go to school. Unless it is covered.

NO!
Ringworm is a fungus. It can be passed sharing clothes, sports equipment or skin-to-skin contact.
I dont know of any home remedies. I would just use a topical creme.
not sure for baby skin, check the package

First of all, don't send your son to daycare, other people could easily catch that. Try asking your son's doctor could he/her Prescribe something for that.

Absolutely not. Take him to his Dr. as soon as possible. It is highly contagious. His Dr. will give him cream to put on it to sooth the itching I would assume. I would also discuss with his Dr. where he got it. Between the two of you might be able to pin point it and he won't get it again. Good luck to you guys.
