I'm looking to cut or lose about 8 pounds for a BJJ tournament at the end of April so I can fight flyweight (119.9lbs and under). Currently, I'm sitting at 127 w/ about 17% body fat. Any tips and suggestions you can give would be much appreciated

Cutting is pretty simple. Take in less calories, up your cardio, drink more water, break your meals down into 5-6 a day, up your protein intake. The end.

I'm glad you asked that. I would recommend a vegetarian diet with lots of high fiber like brown rice that will pass through your system quickly. Don't neglect your protein but get it from a low cholesterol source like brocolli or beans. You actually have plenty of time so don't even worry about till April. For now just increase your cardio and that might fix the whole problem. These next 2 months concentrate on your techniques. I had to go through the same thing and dropped 9 pounds in one day runnung around a track for an hour and a half with no water, 2 sweaters, sweat pants, and 3 t-shirts in the hot Honolulu sun. Aloha

Lose this weight, do not cut it.

A BJJ tourny, will mean a weigh in, an hour at the most before you 1st fight, you will not have time to rehydrate properly.

Cut the Carbs, if you don't wanna cut them all out, don't eat them after about 4pm, but if you do eat them, eat good ones, not sugary ones. this will affect yr blood suger and make you wana eat more. Up the cardio, running in the mornings will be good.

Hope this helps

Run at about 6 or 7 in the morning. And make sure your ONLY losing up to 4 lbs. a week. Over dosing it well make you weak for your tournament.
