HEY!! I'm in MN, too!! :):):)!!

And no. They can't fire you. A DWI is not a felony. As long as you didn't do anything reckless on the job.

PS - DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!

If you are an 'at will' employee, which most people are, they can conceivably fire you for this however, they will not receive any type of formal notification of your conviction unless they run a background check on you or request a copy of your driving record. They may do the former if you apply for a position in the company dealing with sensitive data or the latter if your job requires you to drive. It's best to keep quiet about it at work and try to fight the citation in the legal system. Also, the longer you can delay the hearing on the citation, the longer it will be before it actually appears on your record.

Check your personnel file. Often you sign a document when being hired which states that you will inform the employer of any arrests or drug/alcohol incidents for which there is a police report. Usually the employer will just require you to get counselling. Better check! If you signed such a statement and don't report the DWI, then they could fire you.

You should have no problem with your job unless your job description involves driving their vehicles which means that you need a clean driving record depending on their policies.
