I feel like sleeping all the time. Sometimes I'll sleep 15 or 16 hours straight, stay up about 8 hours and go back to sleep. I have to nap constantly too? I feel that I never get enough. What can I do to snap out of it?

I am 24 yrs old, single, and I work shift work. Nothing but work occupies my time. If I'm not at work I'm sleeping.

Try to have healthy eating habits and perhaps take a good multi-vitamin. IF you have been checked for possible physical problems, maybe this is part of your depression.
GET MOTIVATED> stay on schedule. Remember, if you sleep to much, it tends to make you feel more depressed and unmotivated. I know this from personal experience. Try to keep your time occupied by doing fun, positive things. When I exercise and eat healthy, I feel sooooo much better about myself.
Really, really try not to sleep so much because it will bring you down more!

Aside from depression, it could be a problem with your metabolism. Have you had your thyroid checked lately? You should..... A sluggish thyroid will definately make you want to sleep all of the time. It will also cause depression and lots of other problems. Have your Dr do some blood work and find out what your current hormone level is. As for snapping out of it..... Well, if it's hormonal..... You need your Dr's help. Try increasing your activity level during your waking hours. Do some walking or something to get your blood flowing and the adrenaline pumping..... Those endorphines feel pretty darned good once you get started at some exercising. Good luck to you. I have a bad Thyroid and know how it feels to want to sleep a lot.

I think that the you are bored. I love to sleep and like you i used to sleep every moment i could. You can never really SNAP out being sleepy all the time. Maybe you should add some activities to your daily schedule it keeps your mind off of sleep and if you can try and sleep for the normal eight hour amount and take a two to three hour nap during the day, because its good to wind down now and again but too much sleep cannot be good, trust me i've experienced it.

it could be depression or lack of motivation to get up.
I feel that way sometimes, I sleep all day because sleeping is fun and you don't have to be awake and deal with Real Life.
That's why you may need to make a schedule and goals for yourself. Like make a time to sleep and when to wake up and then start your day with Things you want or Need to do. Because sleeping that long isn't healthy and you should have more energy so try and make healthy changes so you won't have this problem anymore.. :)

Umm, are you perhaps suffering from depression? Iron deficiency? Have you had your blood sugar tested? Have you been in for a physical to rule out a metabolic disorder? Are you getting any exercise? Do you snore/have sleep apnea?

I would recommend switching to high fruit/veg/complex carb/protein diet, cutting out pop, artificial sugar, and getting on a good cardio plan, providing you do not have any medical issues you need to address. You may also want to look into an antidepressant if that is an issue for you.

I would talk with your physician about your med levels to make sure they are right!

I think you are totally depressed. See your doctor to make sure there is no disease responsible. For example, a fatigue syndrome. It is not normal to sleep that much. How were you able to stay awake long enough to submit your email to Answers?
Could you be fudging just a little, and only sleep 10 to 12 hours a day?

There are many reasons for sleeping several hours.

It could be from a disease process like Epstein Barr Syndrome, depression, hypothyroidism, mononucleosis just to name a few.

The only way to find out the cause is to see a doctor.

If you're taking Prozac, you must have a doctor. Tell your doctor how much you're sleeping. Maybe Prozac is making you sleepy.
