Do your family and friends disown you if you leave your religion?

I wouldn't worry so much about the family and friends as I would about turning my back on the ONE TRUE GOD, the God of Abraham, the God of us all. You see if I were to ask you what is the WORST crime in your mind that is deserving of a punishment. Most likely you would say......child molester, rapist, murderer, etc .etc. All of these are a crime against humanity....but to leave Islam which is in a nutshell saying there is only ONE GOD and not the manmade concept of trinity is a crime against GOD....for that is deserving of abandonment from everyone.

For what I've heard about islam, is that you may not ever convert to another religion or become a non-believer once you've been "in", and the perpetrator may be expelled or sometimes even be killed, but the punishment is very cultural dependent. I don't know what's written about it in the big book, but this is what I heard about people who did leave Islam. An example:
Last year there was an Afghan guy who lived in Germany for a long time and there had converted to christianity. A couple of years ago he went back to Afghanistan to visit his family, but they reported him to the local islam court because they notice he had converted and he was sentenced to death. After interference of the West, they let him go for made up reasons of insanity, but before the local people would get to know about it, because they'd probably never had let him gone alive. Sad story.
Islam=piece?
I still have so many doubts about that.

No, my family would not disown me for leaving my religion.

Nor would I disown my own children for leaving my religion. They are my children.

Shame on any family that would disown their own for such a thing.

My family believes in me and in whatever I do more than the religion, and even I believe in my family more than myself....It is sick to think that my family will disown me because of this reason.....I dont know about others....

Im guessing you are a muslim girl and the media has succeded in brainwashing you into thinking your religion is bad. Yes your family will be dissappointed if you leave your religion. We are in bad times that will get worse, so stick to your religion o.k. Dont even think about leaving it o.k. If you like someone from another religion theres nothing wrong with that but dont convert o.k.

NO. Never. However, your family become highly upset and will grieve for the error of thier ways. In Islam it is not up to humans to judge other, but rather God Himself judge his creation, and if his creation does not believe in Him, then it is up to God to deal with the non-believers, not humans.
