It is better to get them out before they bother you because they are very painful and they could get impacted under other teeth and then you have real problems.

Sometimes wisdom teeth fail to erupt if there is not adequate space in the jaw to do so. When they do not grow through the gum they can compact and rot in the jaw causing many problems and much pain.
I suggest having an appointment with your dentist to get an x-ray done of your jaw to see where your wisdom teeth are and when you have further information decide on a future course of action.
Even if your wisdom teeth have erupted sucesfully you may still not have enough room and your teeth may misalign and become crowded.
In a best case senario the wisdom teeth grow straight and there is no action necessary but in many cases it is necessary to have them removed.
Contrary to popular belief not everyone has 4 wisdom teeth. You may have only 1 or maybe 2 or 3 or 4.
I had 3 and had them removed when I was 22. They were compacted under my crown molars and my mouth hurt so it was rather obvious that they should be removed. After they were removed my mouth hurt for a couple of days as is to be expected and I have had no trouble since.
Dentists tend to know what they are on about. So go with the flow and then you won't have to worry about your wisdom teeth anymore.

The dentist will take x-rays of your mouth to see how the wisdom teeth are coming in and whether or not they're damaging your jaw or other teeth. I'm 19 and I have one wisdom tooth mostly in and another one starting to come in, but the dentist said they weren't hurting anything since my teeth are already crowded anyway. Just listen to what the dentist says, and if you're still unsure, get a second opinion from a different dentist.

The bleeding has nothing to do with the wisdom teeth. That's the beginning of gingivitis (gum disease) so get busy taking care of your teeth dude or you will have some nasty problems. Brush well at least twice a day and floss daily.
The dentist will tell you if you need the wisdom teeth out or not when they do regular xrays.

Whatever you decide to do about your wisdom teeth right now, make sure that you don't skip any more of your twice a year cleanings. Seriously. When I was 23 years old and without dental insurance for the first time I skipped my cleaning to save $100.00 or whatever the cost would have been. Now at 35 years old I just started to go back to the dentist because my wife has dental insurance for us. I had an abscess that was so infected it had to be drained before they could take an x-ray. My next visit was an individual x-ray of every tooth plus a full mouth x-ray. Then I got to have 8 teeth pulled in one visit, 3 of them were my remaining wisdom teeth. After I healed for two weeks I had 8 cavities filled and one root canal over the course of 4 visits. Then I had to go for a cleaning. My next adventure will take 4 years. I have to have 4 bridges made. Four years because they cost $3500.00 each and our insurance only covers $1500.00 a year. So out of my own pocket, I am going to pay well over $12,000.00 to get my teeth fixed. If I had kept my cleaning appointments over those 12 years, it would have been $2400.00 out of pocket.

Different dentists have different beliefs... Some say that if your don't take it out and it grows at a later time, it can cause you lots of pain and problems if you are a bit older.... Some say that if they don't cause a problem, there's really no need to take the risk of surgery to remove it since there's always a risk of it getting infected and causing a bigger problem. Your dentist might take some x-ray pictures and try to evaluate if your teeth might cause any problems later on. But as they grow, they move.. so it's really hard to say. Some might tell you that it will cause a problem for sure, but get several dentists' opions if you really prefer not to take it out.
But really, it just depends on what you think and what your parents think about it. I'm 22 and none of my wisdom teeth have caused any problems YET even though one is already growing. But my mom had all of hers taken out when she was around my age.The thing is that they may not even grow, it depends on the person.

I'm assuming you're talking about them drugging you so you go to sleep... for me, I was passed out the entire time, didn't feel a thing. When I woke up, I didn't even realize the operation was over, until I discovered wads of cotton inside my mouth and holes where my teeth were. It doesn't matter what you wear that day, although I do agree they probably won't let you bring a blanket. In my case, all I remember is as the surgeon was injecting me, I asked him "How long will it be before I fall asleep?" and he said "It'll be quick." I closed my eyes and don't remember anything after that lol. It's a pretty quick and painless thing, trust me. I did it the other way too, where I was awake and they just numbed the area to remove the teeth, but that hurt so much more! I also ate ice cream afterwards. :) I didn't use any painkillers either, although I never do for anything so I may just be used to it.

Hey, lots of people end up having to get their wisdom teeth taken out because they get infected. if that happens you will know it. Some people have to have them taken out for space reasons like me, but if that was the case your dentist would have talked about it with you already. In general most people live their entire lives with their wisdom teeth and never have a problem. i think its safe to say you dont have to worry.

Sometimes wisdom teeth come through without a problem. But if they come in like most people's wisdom teeth, at an angle, they will press on your other teeth and move them around and be very painful.

Well, the problem with WT in my case was that one of them wouldn't come out :S It was stuck inside and it hurt a lot. I just took some painkillers while others adviced me to have my gum to be cut so the teeth would come out faster.. I didn't do it. I jsut got one removed because it got broken as soon as it came out and had a cavity very soon.
Probably she mentioned that wisdom teeth were about to appear, so you need to take care more of yor teeth.

The answer to that question should really come from your dentist, because they know best...but unless there is a problem of you not having enough space in your mouth for them to grow, it should be fine.
you may just have a hygenist with a heavy flossing hand.(mine is that way, and i SWEAR i feel like my teeth will fall out if i bite anything!)
most probably this is a gum problem. be sure to floss at least once daily and when you brush, get down around your gums. they'll toughen up some and will cause less problems with bleeding.
