Short answer, no. TV sets and computers are among the less consumption devices. Look somewhere else in your house/habits. However, (long answer), you can turn off the monitor when not in use. To find out where’s your money going:
Daily consumption in kilowatt-hour = Wattage x Hours per Day ÷ 1000
Multiply this by 30 days and by local cost of a single kWh
CPU (whole day)----> 120W x 24 hours ÷ 1000 = 2.8 kWh
Monitor (10 hours)--> 150W x 10 hours ÷ 1000 = 1.5 kWh
TV (whole day) ------> 50W x 24 hours ÷ 1000 = 1.2 kWh
Clothes washer 350W; Microwave 750W; TV 50W; Flat screen TV 120W; Toaster 1000W; Hair dryer 1500W; Water heater (40 gallon) 4500W

It seems that way because it is that way. Many, though not all, tv pastors are in a money-making business. They are continually soliciting money from the viewers, they encourage you to write to them or email them with "prayer requests" - and then they don't stop flooding you with requests for money, promising you prosperity and health as a reward for your generosity. Or else they will push some quackery on to you as you have seen. Paul, writing to Timothy, mentioned those who see piety as a means of financial gain (Read First Timothy chapter 6). But don't put them all in the same basket. There are some who use television as a means of preaching the Gospel, and this is paid for by their churches or mission organization - they are not asking viewers to pay for it - or to send in money for different causes. But it's important to be able to note the difference. You have to ask yourself: 1) Are they making promises the Bible doesn't clearly make? 2) Are they speaking the way Jesus and the apostles would have? 3) Is the gospel the centre of their preaching, or is it some other thing like healing or deliverance? 4) Do they solicit money? 5) Do they solicit prayer requests? (This last might be sincere, but it's a warning light). Edit: Note to Solomon loves...: Thank you for the three video links. I watched all three of them. Yes, a lot of typical stuff. I had read recently about Marjo - disgusting, isn't it! On the other hand the third video, while describing a real problem, and making some excellent points, the guy is pushing his own religious kingdom, I'm sure he's making money with a religious pyramid scheme. Some version of "The plain truth" under the now deceased Armstrong.

I would think the greatest cost would be whatever ISP you use and whatever sattelite or cable service you use. But I was wondering about the same thing on electricity consumption when and if you left your computer on even when you're not using it, like my son and his friend do. I'd love to be able to tell them since they have just returned from Iraq from their second tours of duty in the Army, and they're in their first apartment and trying to conserve expenses. God Bless you.

They should not use up THAT much energy, assuming you are not on them all the time. If you use them 23 hours a day, then of course it will cost more than normal.
