I've heard dish is cheaper than comcast, but does anyone know by how much it is cheaper?

It actually may vary from region to region.
Call them up and compare their prices AFTER their introductorry offers. A lot depend on how much extra stuff you want.

Make sure you compare DIGITAL comcast with Dish and ask about local channel support (especially in HD, if you plan to buy an HD TV soon).

No. Cable less expensive per channel purchased--Satellite just piles more channels into their presentation which no one either watches or has any interest in. Cable lets you choose what package of channels you prefer.
Cable also offers high speed Internet, phone service, and television, in one billing.
With satellite you also need to figure in cost for more than one outlet, plus necessary reception boxes, and the cost for reception of your local channels..

Dish Network you only get satellite, and starts at 19.99 a month.

Comcast is at least $33 for cable, but you can get it bundled with voice and internet for $99.
