If you want to save literaly ALL the files. you will need an imaging program. 99 percent of the world uses norton ghost. let me know if you need a copy. youll have to have the image split into 4 gig files, then burn each file to a dvd. or 700 meg files and burn each image to cd.
if you have a separate harddrive, norton ghost can copy one drive to another drive exactly.

Use a software called "Drive Image SE" or any similar imager like Norton Ghost to save an image of the hdd onto a cd/dvd/external disc.
the first two answers will NOT work, as you could not copy/access/move some key system files while still using windows in that manor.

Get a blank disc, if there is one, that can fit it all. Move all of the files to the drive on your computer (w/ the disc in the computer already). Good Luck!

It's called a complete backup.
It depends on which operating system you use, and what backup software package you want to use. A lot of them are easy to use, some are automated. If you have never backed up a computer and never lost files to a crash, virus or corruption, you are either very new or very fortunate.

If you mean copying your ENTIRE system so that you can recover from a hard drive failure, then you need to purchase a drive imaging software. Some companies that make such programs are Symantec (Ghost), Acronis (TrueImage), and Terabyte(Image for Windows).

What Sarah said. Get one of those USB jump drives.... or burn the files to CDs or DVDs (if you have a CD or DVD burner/writer). I always burn my files to CDs.

You can't. There are no disks big enough to hold what most people have on their computers.
