This is a 6-quart pressure cooker. I saw it in my little home town hardware store. They are doing a close out on them and they are asking $35. I have been trying to do some comparative shopping when I go to other stores, K-Mart, Wal-Mart & didn't even see one in either of those stores. Is this a good price? This is not a Presto. It is some other brand I have never even heard of before. What do ya think ? Any opinions ?

I used to use a pressure cooker much of the time but now i prefer a slow cooker. Cooking on high when it gets hot it will boil. I am ready for a new one -larger. I let my food cook either most of the day depending on the recipe. It is very good for pinto beans add a small amount of chopped onion-1/2 of a small one. You start out with a few beans so you need to rinse & soak them first and check on water until the cooking is under way. It is good to cook chicken roast or vegetable soup or any other soup. I even make Dumplings in mine. When you get a pressure cooker try to make sure it is stainless steel You may want to go on line and check out those type that don't explode. They are expensive but if i get another one that is what i want(they had them at the fair in different sizes) Aluminun is not safe for cooking because it comes off in your food. I bought a cheaper one and it did not last me very long nor did it work right. You may do fine with the one you have found. It could be one that has been in the store awhile and therefore a good deal.

I think it's a great price. I have a six quart Presto and it cost over $60.00. A six quart is the best size, because you can do a whole chicken, short ribs, etc. without doing two batches. Pressure cookers today are not like the ones of yesteryear. Modern ones have safety features built right in. If it's not over ten years old, don't worry about it, it's fine, no matter what the brand. All you have to do is look through the little hole on the thing on top and see if it's clogged (I never have had it clogged, but you ALWAYS have to look). They really are a wonder! I make chicken caciattore all the time in a fraction of the time, you can make corn on the cob in minutes as well as artichokes. Get yourself a good pressure cooker cookbook and away you go! They are a staple for the busy person without a lot of time and want a great meal fast. I also have a great respect for Crock Pots for the same reason. Thay are slow, but you can assemble everything the night before, put it in the crockpot, plug it in, and when you get home, dinner is served! As a working single mom, I wouldn't be without a pressure cooker or a crockpot! Hope this helps, and happy cooking!

That's a very good price. Read the box carefully, but many pressure cookers have come a long way since the 50's and 60's when they would explode.

That's about what you would pay for an aluminum pressure cooker at Walmart. The steel ones cost around $50 to $60.

I think that's a very good price but I would want to make certain it has been approved by the safety boards. Pressure cookers can and are dangerous if mis-used. A cheap one might be even more dangerous.

I would say that's a pretty fair price, and that's a big one also at 6 quarts. We've had ours for many years and we use it at least once or twice a week.Saves lots of time cooking and saves lots of electricity as stuff is done in minutes instead of 30 minutes or more cooking the regular way.
