I take it the people answering this question saying she is overweight are going off of BMI... Which is often completely inaccurate! Try putting in the data of some top athletes which don't have an once of fat but a heap of muscle on them and they will come up according to BMI as obese! BMI does not take into consideration more important factors such as fat and muscle composition and body measurements (all way more accurate!!!) As long as she eats a well balanced diet full of fruit, veges and lean meats and gets plenty of exercise she's fine!

Well, that is slightly overweight, so if she wants to lose a few pounds and get down to a weight that is healthy for her height, you should be supportive of her. She might appreciate having her concerns taken seriously and if she decides to diet and exercise, she'd probably like to have encouragement and know that people are cheering for her.

But if you just want her to have better self-esteem, let her know that her weight doesn't affect whether or not you love her and that her friends like her for who she is and not what she looks like.
