It depends on what state you're working in and what age group you want to work with. Technically, "early childhood" is birth through age 8. If you're planning to work in kindergarten, first, or second grade, you'll need a teaching degree and license, no matter what state. If you're planning to teach preschool, you may not need a degree, but I'd recommend it. You'll be a much stronger educator and child care professional with the advanced education. Study anything related to children - child psychology, education, family and consumer sciences. Just make sure you're getting a sound foundation in child development, learning theories, teaching, etc. Get as educated as you can!

If you have a passion for children and the drive to do what's best for them, you'll succeed in the field. Good luck!

Depending upon the state that you reside. I am certified in North Carolina for Birth to Kindergarten. This means that I can work in a child care facility or as a Kindergarten teacher. Some daycare/childcare centers prefer that you have a associate's degree in early child hood. I would assume that if you have your certification that could demand more pay if you are working in a day care. I would check your state's requirements because things are changing daily. Hope this helps.

You do need a degree if you are wanting to teach in the public schools. However, a lot of times in the preschools you do not need to have a degree in order to work and teach there. More than likely if you do not have a degree you will have a licensed educator in charge of you. Each state will have their own requirements. Keep in mind that you do not earn a lot of money working in a preschool with or without a degree.

Yes, you need a teacher's certificate. It's just like being a upper grade teacher.
