I'm desperate. I feel crazed. I know I'd be able to spend at least a little more time on this planet if I had something to read...
But I go to the self-help section in my bookstore, and can find nothing on the subject of suicide (I live in a VERY small town).

If there's anything you've read before that was really good on this subject, and hopefully inspired one to live rather than die...I would very much like to hear what it was. I can special order books if I have to.

I don't care if it was some fiction book you read, or actually nonfiction/self-help.

Please, I've been battling with this recently and the half of me that wants to live is trying very hard here...

Butch...

I have a habit of not pouring my heart out on my public profiles...
I'm sorry you feel the need to judge me based on some piece of trash writing I can hardly remember now.

Night Falls Fast by Kay Redfield Jamison is an excellent book about suicide. It's nonfiction and I found it very helpful. I know she has also written a book about Joy that I've heard is good, and that might be more what you need to hear now; my library doesn't have it so I haven't read it yet.
Also the novel Folly by Laurie King is amazing. I checked it out five times and then just bought it. :) I know what you are going through and all I can tell you is that you matter; you may feel like it won't hurt anyone if you were gone, but it would. That is what keeps me going most days.

Hmmm.

Probably are many gr8 books on the subject. Depression is pretty natural. Sadly, reading about depression rarely helps you with dealing with it!!! I learned this from hard experience.

Ways to fight depression assuming its not medical:
1) Find things like to do and find people to do with
2) Movies. I love cartoons and art!!! Miyazaki rules.
3) Get active!!! Get some excercise. Preferably not alone and not something that you feel compelled to be "good" at.
4) Work on your attitude. Mabye you are too hard on yourself
5) Draw.
6) Quiet time with someone worth associating with never hurts.
7 DO NOT LISTEN TO LOVE MUSIC. Stay away from Van Gogh.

In short, hang in there. I've known some people who've killed themeselves and many more that thought about it, tried but (thank god) failed. Those that tried, are without exception all o.k. The three I know that are gone are just gone, they can't be replaced.

Remember, life is very much what you make it. Beware of assumptions that are bringing you down. Beware of negative people.

Again, hang in there. Find your path. Life is too short as it is.

P.S. If non of this works, consider seeing a doctor. Make sure you are not chemically depressed

"How You Can Survive When They're Depressed: Living and Coping with Depression Fallout" by Anne Sheffield is a handbook of practical advice for people dealing with someone who is depressed.
It can probably help to solve your problem and make you realize that life is important...

i would say you really need help...if you ask me, i would not recommend a book... i think you should have someone to talk to... you could e-mail me if you want to... but you really need someone to listen to you

if you still want a book, i recommend you read the bible, especially the book of psalms.

life is beautiful... you can spend your time answering life's problems on your own, but it is way better to share it with someone, that way, life would not be as dificult as you perceive it to be.

live.

I read your profile and that didn't sound like someone who wanted to die to me. If you want to see someone who wants to die read mine.
