I saw this in an LJ community. Its an offer from Wirelessbuy.
I guess theyre basically saying its free.

But I have a few questions.

- Do you have to pay the price of the phone later?

- If I'm with Cingular and my contract is up, can I get the phone and then just switch over? Will it transfer my number?

- Is it even real?

I'd appreciate if someone could answer fairly soon, thanks. (:

To your first question, you don't pay the price of the phone directly later as they recoup their costs by locking you in to a 2 year contract at at least $59/mo (voice plan at least $39/mo required, $20 data plan also required). That's at least $1416 they'll get out of you eventually so yeah, they make their money back. Plus, you still pay $50 up front. You get that back in a mail in rebate. Believe it or not, only 50% of people send these in so they make money off of the lazy ones. Oh, shipping and handling is $8 for UPS ground.

Your second question, T-Mobile does do number porting. It is important to NOT call Cingular to cancel your phone as the account must be open and in good standing in order for T-Mo to port the number.

Third question, yes it's real. They specialize in only a handful of handsets, and since they're a nationwide retailer this allows them to purchase in large quantities thus getting the equipment cheaper from the manufacturers. The good thing is that these aren't refurbs, so you're saving money but not dealing with refurbished gear. Also, T-Mobile pays them 2 commissions, one for the voice activation at at least $39/mo plus another for putting you on the unlimited data plan for $20/mo. By requiring you to sign up for these plans allows them to subsidize the price further.
