It's from 16-18 yrs old... see, your bones need to grow first, lifting weights makes your bones harder, adding calcium to them rapidly. Eventhough calcium is good for bones, when you are still growing the growth rings in your bones (part of the bones which is actually growing, noticeable in xrays in long bones) don't need that much calcium... calcium could stop your growth sooner. What experts recommend is... before this age, do pushups, situps, run, swim, play basketball, everything which improves your flexibility and elasticity.. lifting your on weight and no more... and eat well so your body can grow all it is suposed to, then, when you stop growing taller, work on your body mass.

This is the reason why schools and gyms don't allow younger people to lift weights... If you have any dooubt, ask a doctor... NOT a trainer.

There are some age recommendations, and usually restrictions at gyms or clubs, that you could follow. Really any age over 10 can lift weights, but there are two things to be aware of: 1. kids that age don't always have the mental capacity to effectively or safely lift weights, and don't always respect themselves or the equipment. 2. he would need to stay away from heavy weights that stress his growing bones or muscles too much, staying with low weight/low reps. Other than that, as long as he feels comfortable lifting, go for it!

Age 15 at the earliest. I believe age 15 is the best age to start lifting weights at. Most school offer weight training at age 15. Or sophmore year. And if your older than 15 it never to late to get into shape. Hope this answer works.
