No. While you are a 900 lb gorilla, it doesn't make you a tyrant, and minus a certain idiot president, I don't think we have been.
Aside from Dubya, I think we have been pretty well behaved. Can you name another country in similar position throughout history that had that kind of military edge and did NOT try to create an empire with it?
Hint: Look at the history of Rome, Spain, Portugal, England, France, Germany, and the USSR, not to mention Saddam's Iraq. We suddenly don't look so bad, do we?

Just the reference 'super power' is tyrannical. America does think it is better than everyone else, that is our burden and that is why we are hated all over the globe. We had a window to show the world that we are a good and just people and then we go and invade a soverign country. All the bombs and all the weapons systems we have and we can't even feed all of our people. Humane isn't it?
