I have some questions about adoption within the family. Ok a relative of my boyfriends lost all rights to her little boy and we were asked by her if we could maybe take him in and adopt him. I was just wondering how much it costs and if it was possible and how we would go about doing that. Serious anwsers only please. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that he is in foster care
Where would you suggest I look on the internet?

I would go to an adoption attorney asap. If the birthmother is ready to relinquish her rights, you still have a process to go through whether you foster or adopt. You will have to go through a homestudy, criminal backround check, physicals, social workers, etc., Start NOW!

The cost for adoption has a wide range. An agency can charge anywhere from $5000.00 on up depending on your annual salary. Good luck, it's a very loving thing you are doing, it can be done, be patient, start working on it now, and be persistent. That little boy needs you.

if he's in foster care you are probably going to have to go through the missouri foster care system. i am in kansas and our birthmother was in missouri. also i have some friends that are getting ready to adopt and live in missouri. all i really know about missouri adoption law is that it's very messed up. our birthmother came over to kansas and my friend's birthmother is going to deliver in kansas just to get away from the missouri laws. your first call should be to an attorney that specialized in adoption, and has a working knowledge of the foster care system. i believe you will have to do the parenting classes from missouri, also you need to make sure there are no stipulations that could allow the birthmother to regain parental rights. an attorney needs to be your first step. good luck.

i would see if you can find anything online. if that doesn't work try calling a lawyer and see if they can give you any info. and where is her lil boy now?? if it's in foster care you should be able to adopt him...but like i said talking to a lawyer or a social worker would probably give you the answers you are looking for. good luck!!!

Just attorney fees which are based solely on each attorney (ruffly I would say $500 to 1000) yes it can be done. The Attorney would take care of all paper work and filing everything in the courts that needs to be done.
