Yikes. Sorry to hear about your dog. I'm sure you feel terrible about biting him back, perhaps it was just a reaction. And, I'm sure you know better now....don't worry about it. I would put feeties on his feet to keep him from scratching it with his claws. I would call a vet, but if you can't afford to take him, look up online how to control bleeding in a dog. Now, you might be able to use the same stuff you put on a dogs nails when you cut the quick, but I'm not sure if you should do that. You really should bandage up his ear. That is probably your best bet. Good luck....try to figure out a way to let your dog know that biting is not exceptable, but use positive reinforcement.

assuming that rabies is not a concern (hopefully the dog has been vaccinated properly) you just need to wash your arm and keep it clean. You could use the same type of ointment that you would use for any other type of wound if you want. Unless it is a pretty bad wound, you probably don't need to do much of anything. I think Leo is jumping the gun a little bit here. If you are in bad enough shape that you need to be rushed to the hospital, I think surely you would know it. Dogs mouths do not contain excessive germs. They are just as clean as yours. I'm not a veterinarian, but many people believe that a dog's mouth contains alot less germs than a humans. Why do you think a dog can eat garbage and drink from a mudhole without getting sick? Mother nature has a way of taking care of things, and we don't know it all like we think we do. I would rather be bitten by a healthy dog than I would a human any day, especially if the human was one I don't know. Dogs know the difference between play biting and real biting. If he bit you hard enough to cause injury, that's a problem. I hope you did something to let him know this is not acceptable.

Well kid-o, In stark contrast to all the other answers you have gotten I will confess the I have bitten my greatdane for the same reason, but I DID NOT DRAW BLOOD. There is a fine line with a small dog usualy if you hurt there feelings that is enough. Anyway lession learned. go to any pet supply store and tell them you want a cone to fit your dog and that will go around his neck and keep him from hurting him self farther. other wise put super glue on the wound and mat what little fur he has into it and that should be protection enough. I used this methoud to fix a bite from a dog to a cat and worked geat. also fixed of my own wounds with super glue vs stitches. Good luck READ MY ADVISE ABOUT YOUR FISH TANK DELIMIA

DOGS ONLY BITE IF THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY TRAINED. THAT IS THEIR INSTINCT. You are not teaching the dog not to bite you by biting him back, AT ALL. You are going to make it worse and probably bite you again. When a dog gets hurt, it's their instint as well to "attack" whatever hurts them (Ever accidently stepped on a dogs tail? same thing) You need to bring that dog to a shelter so someone that knows how to take care of a dog can adopt it. I cant beleive you would bite your dog that hard, use some common sence, give her away to someone that will take the time to train the dog.

Clean his ear up and bandage it. If it seems really bad later, take him to the vet. Also, you need to read Cesar Milan's book about handling dogs and watch his show The Dog Whisperer. He can show you how to stop your dog from biting at you and to teach him how to behave so this incident won't be repeated.

Take him to the vet.
The mouth has very ferocious bateria. We have this bateria to protect us from other potentially harmful bacterias in the environment.
When you bit him, he might have gotten his little ear infected.

Meanwhile, clean it with an antiseptic and cover it with a gause.

So sad. Poor little dogie. If the wound does not heal soon, then take him to the vet. Good thing the dog will not need rabies shots. I am sure you are rabie free
