Me and my sister are in a fight about it. She is trying to tell me that women cant carry the gene that makes someone color-blinded. I think she is full of crap because as far as I am concerned anyone can carry a gene or be color-blinded.

Women can be colorblind. It affects about 0.5% of the female population.
Red-green color blindness, by far the most common one, is sex linked recessive trait, which results in much more men to be colorblind than women (7% to 0.5%).
Other types of color blindness (blue-yellow and monochromacy) or not sex linked and evenly distributed among men and women. But these types are so uncommon, that you can hardly show it in figures.

women can be color blind if they carry the gene on both X chromosomes, but not if they only carry it on one
its much more common for men though, because all that color blindness requires in men is one gene due to the Y chromosome

I just learned about this. Girls CAN be color-blind but it is VERY rare and a lot more common in males. I think this is true because it is carried on the Y chromosome.

Anyone can be if they have the right combo of genes....it affects a lot of people and most of which don't even know they have it.

a woman can be colorblind only if her dad is, and it is extremly rare, and yes women can carry the gene
