Goodluck getting dreads without product. You'll be waiting years for them to start looking natty.
Unless you get them professionally done or backcombed very well by a mate you will need wax of some sort.
I had dreads for a while, and I too wanted to go all natural, but found it virtually impossible... I didn't want to wait years to see the end product. In the end, I got them done on the street in Bangkok for about au$15!

Mine are natural dreadlocks and they look great and although I don't use beeswax now, I had to when I started growing them. There is no way you can start them without using some sort of product. You could try an organic beeswax and you don't have to use a lot.

Don't fall into the never washing it thing, dreadlocks can actually have quite a bit of upkeep, you need to keep them cleaned and maintained otherwise they are feral. Just get your hairdresser to do them, going rate here is $100 an hour.

Looks @ your avitar.. Ummmmmmmm...

You'll be waiting a LONG time for your hair to go matted if you're doing it natural..

Why do non-african americans want to get locks anyway? It's not something your hair texture naturally does.

Mine was naturally locking @ 4 months.. my hair is nappy.. its the natural thing to do.
