I guess you could say im pretty dam shy, and it really sucks. Its hard for me to talk to new people, girls are the worst though. Right now im in highschool and ive only had 2 girlfriends in my life because its just so hard for me to talk to girls espcially if its one that i like. If i like a girl and I try to talk to her I freeze up and i get extreamly nervous, and i think to myself "she can see im nervous, shes not going to like me, im going to screw it up". I need help overcoming this problem because it really really sucks.

If you can manage it, ask her for her email and if its ok to email her. It is so much easier to ask someone out by email. this is something that will help your shyness and unfortunately there is nothing that can overcome that then live life or live with regret which is it for you? Take care Heather

I was so unbelieveably shy in high school....I had a lot of friends and was still shy around them....I think it's something that you just have to let go of. You just learn to let it go and be yourself. There is nothing wrong with another person liking you for who you REALLY are instead of some front that you try to put on. Just relax....don't be nervous. She's nervous too...a little nervousness and shyness is good but don't let it consume you because you will never find someone to be with.

I think thats really cute, My current boyfriend had a similar problem in high school except he was so shy he couldn't talk to anyone. He got over it by doing this:
Accept that people are going to think what they think. I know everyone cares about what other people think, but you're really not going to be able to change that.
Also, you'd be surprised how many people think my boyfriend is just so cool and so outgoing, but I know he's really nervous around people. No one can tell that your nervous, but chances are they might be nervous too. So loosen up :-)
Lastly, the easiest way to talk to girls is to get them to talk about themselves. Their school-work, their plans for college, what they like to do for fun. Girls can talk about themselves for hours. Its your job to look interested ;-)

You won't believe me but I'll say it anyway. Don't worry too much about it. Lots of girls are attracted to the shy type. You have plenty of time right now to enjoy the things in life that you like. Everybody can't be outgoing and talkitive. Just ask me.

I was shy once before but not any more. You can try just going up to someone and say hey how's it going? then you can start talking to them about something like the weather, sports, or whatever you want to.

I have the same problem, but with boys.
It's called "social anxiety".
If you don't want to see a shrink (I sure as hell don't), then you have to kind of help yourself. Think of things to talk about. Make fun of someone, like a teacher or one of her ex boyfriends.
You'll get less embarrassed if you don't plan to talk to her.
Make it a spontaneous thing.
