reproductive cells are haploid while somatic cells are diploid(as explained by the first person who answered this q). reproductive cells have undergone meiosis while somatic cells undergo mitosis.

Reproductive cells have half the usual number of chromosomes.
Example: Human body cells have 23 pairs, or 46 chromosomes.
Reproductive cells have 23 chromosomes.
