I just sold my car (02/04) and am trying to rent a car until I buy the new car (02/05-02/15).

What happens to the auto insurance that I had with the car that I just sold (I paid the coverage until 02/16). Was it automatically terminated when I sold my car? Since my policy covers the insurance for the rental car too, if it will continue until 02/16, I don’t have to pay for additional rental insurance at a rental shop (I believe I paid around $13 per day before).

Auto insurance terminated?

First, it depends on whether your policy has what's called an AUTOMATIC TERMINATION CLAUSE. If it does, your coverage ended the minute you sold your car. This means if you wrecked the rental when your insurance asked you why you were driving a rental...it'll come out & that's when the clause will be invoked.

If I were you, I would cancel the remaining term of the policy and purchase the insurance from the rental agency.....actually, whether you cancel the premium or not, I would still purchase the insurance because it's just easier than having to deal with a coverage investigation and the claim won't go on your own auto policy.

You have to call your insurance agent and let them know that you no longer own the vehicle and that you need to cancel your insurance effective 2/04. Your rental coverage on your insurance policy is only if you have an accident in your vehicle and you need temporary transportation until your car is repaired.

Even concept you paid an afternoon early the bill became into in all probability nonetheless seen previous due, in case you mailed it you could desire to mail it some days ahead so as that they recieve it on time. in case you paid by employing credits card the day previously the fee does no longer post for some days. while insured's pay previous due it places an larger administrative burden on the insurer and that they have got desperate they no longer go with to have you ever as a threat. the suitable you're able to do is pay what you owe and flow on, for this reason regrettably, you're incorrect. suitable of success to you.

Did you cancel the policy? If not then it is still an active policy with valid coverage. It was your vehicle so you are the only one who can terminate the policy. So until you do that or it expires you're good.
