How far in advance did you do your mitzvah project for your bar/bat mitzvah? I'm donating my hair to locks of love, and I was wondering when I should do it.

I'm also giving money to a local children's hospital, and volunteering at an event at my Temple.

We were commanded to do good deeds- mitzvah means commandment AND good deed.

You should probably do a bit more than just donating your hair. Your bat mitzvah is when you become a full Jewish woman--isn't there something more you could do? Maybe gather a group of your friends together who all want to do it and get your hair cut together? Try and take it to the next level! And mazel tov!!!

Sorry, to answer: I did it pretty close, but that's because I'm a procrastinator :-(

In that case, it doesn't really matter when you do it, as long as you do it and get something meaningful out of it that you can take with you into this new stage in your life. Again, mazel tov.

By the way, guy below me, mitzvah doesn't mean "commandment" ...sorry.

ok, i'm conversing the following as a non secular jew, even even with the actuality that i'm no longer constructive if i have ever heard that precise time period, so i'm kinda guessing. it might also be a accepted mission, in which pupils (or absolutely everyone) go with to do something good for others. as an party: Bob and Fred (conventional jewish names, precise?) knew that there change into an previous woman on their block who change into lonely and couldn't go away her living house, so that they determined to look after her and make her their mitzvah mission. This mission can be a own determination, or mandated with assistance from a college (as an party, many colleges in ny have similar recommendations, even with the actuality that they call them "chessed initiatives," the position pupils favor to spend a particular era of time each and every week appearing some type of effective deed.

Mitzvah means Commandment, maybe for your project you can push to have your Temple call it what it is, a "good deed" project, from now on, so you dont confuse another generation in your town about the meaning of an important Hebrew word.
