You can try it, but also realize that getting a date through the internet isn't going to make you avoid actually having to meet and have a relationship.
My advice is to look at yourself and LOVE yourself! The more you want this, the more you're going to forget to use common sense. The more you're going to forget to look at flaws and understand that change isn't always possible!
If you've never dated, internet dating may not be the place to start. What friends do you have? I would start there and go on some blind dates. It's rough, but it's going to introduce you to dating.

There's good people on all those sites, unfortunately there's also total wackos too!
So if you want to compare those sites, look at the cost options. I hear eharmony is pretty expensive. Some of those sites have monthly memberships, others are like pay-as-you-go (such as lavalife). There are sites that you don't have to pay such as justsayhi, blackplanet, there's also yahoochatrooms. Good luck
Just a note though, whatever site you choose.... always post a decent looking, recent photo, you'll get way more response!

I've tried Match.com, American singles, Yahoo personals with absolutely no luck what-so-ever. eHarmony is just too expensive, expecting you to pay for each introduction whether it leads to a date or not. Let your friends know that you want to date and see what they come up with.

I have friends who have done both. I have one set of friends who are now engaged from eharmony. I also have one friend who has been dating someone for a year they met on Match.com

I did eHarmony. I've been with the guy for almost two years now. We are currently doing the long distance thing which sucks but beyond that it's not bad. They were able to match me with somebody who I've been very compatiable with.

My hairdresser told me this past weekend that two of her friends met great guys from eharmony.com and they ended up married, and are doing well. I know that match.com gives you your money back if you don't find a date within 6 months. It's worth a shot :)

I wasn't impressed. I met alot of guys that agreed with me no issues, however they were either in Idaho or weren't the least but attractive. I do, however, appreciate the matchmaking part, because I tend to fall for the same stupid type of guy over and over again, and get the same tragic results.

Don't waste your time, bro. WIth these sites, women will get a ton of replies within the first week; a man might get a reply or two within the entire duration of his membership. Save your money and your pride -- stay away from dating sites.

You can find a lot of people to meet online. Just go the the websites and search for the people you're interested in. It's really very easy. Have fun and best... I hope you find your one and only.
