It is “You must not murder." -Exodus 20:13

“You must not murder.” Heb., lo’ tir·tsach′. Note that the Heb. verb ta·harogh′, “should kill,” is not used here.

Actually the "Death Penalty" was a part of the Mosaic Law

"“In case a man happens to have a son who is stubborn and rebellious, he not listening to the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and they have corrected him but he will not listen to them, 19 his father and his mother must also take hold of him and bring him out to the older men of his city and to the gate of his place, 20 and they must say to the older men of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he is not listening to our voice, being a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21 Then all the men of his city must pelt him with stones, and he must die. So you must clear away what is bad from your midst, and all Israel will hear and indeed become afraid." -Deuteronomy 21:18-21

I just imagine there were not many "lazy, stubborn, glutton, drunkard sons" in Israel back then!!!

Dear love me,

The 10 commandments are a starting point. After that it's every man (and woman) for themself.
Besides, you can support the death penalty all you want without ever killing or murdering anyone.

If you are going to quote from the old King James, then you should use an old dictionary to translate the words.

In the modern vernacular that would be "thou shalt not murder", thats a big difference.

The God of the Old Testament called for the death penalty for a lot less. Out collecting firewood so your family does not freeze to death on the Sabbath? Happen to be born homosexual? Got a couple of kids who won't listen? Jehovah says stone 'em all to death. Nice God they got there, huh?

You obviously have never read the Old Testament. God had no problem with the death penalty. There is such a thing as justice being served in those cases of heinous crimes, such as Saddam Hussein.

The part where both Noah and Moses (you know, the Moses who said thou shall not murder) -- mandated the death penalty for murder.

How can you pick and choose which part of the Bible to believe, and which part to ignore.

Morally, there's no reason to murder. There's even little reason to kill animals beyond personal sustainment, you shouldn't really even kill animals just to feed on it. You shouldn't kill yourself slowly with nicotine or alcohols. There's plenty of things we shouldn't do, but we still rationalize actions somehow.

I find that the rules of the bible are very negligible in the face of "If you repent, you're saved". So to be safe, repent everything and nobody cares, not even God.
