Keep playing, because the sooner you quit the later you want it back and then you can't play again because your too old.

I wouldn't say its done, he's just not playing as well as he used to, kind of like how everyone challenging Tiger for the top spot in the world always seem to fall off.
Example: Vijay Singh, he was #1 for some time, but as soon as Tiger came roaring back, he got knocked down hard, and as of right now he has dropped to 7th in the world rankings. But Vijay still can play a good tournament, he won the Mercedes Championship last month.
Also, Ernie Els is making a pretty good comeback, and he has even publicly announced that he will give Tiger a run for his money.
So don't count Phil out, he will be back some day. And he's definitely not a quitter, anyone who has won a tournament is not a quitter.

Phil's career is peaks and valleys just like the risk/reward game he plays...he has a number of wins and a few majors so by no means is he finished, I'm sure he makes a fine career for himself...both in notoriety and finance, it just didn't help that he played /risk reward when his game was arguably at its best (about to win his third major in a row) then got between his ears in a serious way...Phil will continue to play but only time will tell if hes too in between his ears to play at the top again...

Winning on the tour is the same as winning in any individual sport. 3 elements come into play. consistency, accuracy and desire. Phil seems to be lacking in all three. If he ever gets the desire back he can get the other elements back as well...until then he will be just another of the also rans.

He's leading after Round 1 of this week's PGA tournament at Pebble Beach. First place is worth $990,000.

Obviously he's still a top player and can make pots of money. It's ridiculous to think he should quit playing golf and go sell insurance.
