You are confusing "religions" with a "personal relationship with God". Religions are man made and are based on specific interpretation of teachings. Unfortunately, religious differences are often behind the wars and crimes against humanity because of the specific interpretations that are put on the various teachings. Look at the terrorist situation. Muslim people are not all killers of babies and innocents but some are taking very specific teachings and using those teachings as an excuse to kill or conquer. Christianity did the same thing during the "Crusades" The people of Salem, Mass. did the same thing during the "witch hunts". Mankind is evil...period!! Without a personal relationship with our creator we will always use religion as the justification for doing what WE want to do. One thing I find particularly interesting is that the three major religions in the news today (Christian, Islam or Muslim, and Jew) is that all three of their "Bibles" have within their words the prophecy that war and rumor of war will be constant until the end of time. I think this is true even in devil worship. The primary difference is the ending...In otherwords...who will win. Mankind will never work together for world peace because it is not to our advantage. We are selfish and self centered and motivated primarily by what is good for us. The rich and powerful always benefit from war. Unfortunately, those of us who are not are hurt by it. Only our creator has the answer and it is He who will make the final peace. He is in control.

Peace be with you !
Yes, I agree killing and war has to stop. We need to work together to achieve world peace.
Don't blame religions and think that absence of religion would achieve your goal. Do some research about all the pagan rituals of mass human sacrifices, and wars done by non-religious people, Hitler did, and the mass killings done by non-religious communist Russia under Stalin and Paul Pot in Cambodia, and the current-day concentration camps and assembly line killings of peace-loving political dissidents and massacre of pro-democracy advocates done by the non-religious communist China.
Oh, and don't take the bible verse out of context (Matthew 10:34) and misunderstand it totally.
Jesus did not tell us to carry "swords", he was saying he wasn't going to passively conform to the world's ways. He reminded people that the world is hostile but people should not passively conform to the world's ways, but rather break away from the vicious cycle and try his way. He told people if not accepted then brush off the dust from that place off your feet and leave, he did not say attack !
Jesus commanded people to forgive and to love one another, even love our enemies, even to do good to them !
IF everyone did that, there would be no war ! How could there be ?
In the absence of religion, there is still, perhaps even more, greed, power struggles, selfishness, cruelty, wars and killings as under atheist anti-religious regimes like Nazi Germany in the 1933-1945, and Communist China today. Don't believe a lie that absence of religion would bring peace; otherwise it could be another holocaust of the anti-religious against the religious.

Man messed up everything after the apostles were martyred. They went their own way trying to teach the gospel without any intervention with God or His holy prophets. As a result, when revelation to man ceased, the calamity ensued. This, by the way, was prophesied in the old testament by Amos. As a result we have more religions that we know what to do with. Heck, Henry the Eight formed the Church of England just to get a divorce granted. Sheesh. And it didn't stop (or start) there.

Who said religions were created to accomplish world peace? I have faith in God because I believe everything was created by and for Him. If more people believed that then maybe they would put some value on His creations, such as people and the planet. Maybe then we would have world peace.
May God Bless you.

Yes, now in January of 2007 is the time. All the other times weren't ripe yet.
Religions were created LONG before the idea of "world peace" even existed. They didn't even know about the world yet. Religions are to explain the unexplainable.

Not all religions are TRUE, and no religion could accompilsh world peace. It is only by HIS grace that we could attain such. Working together is a great idea but we couldn't move mountains by our own wisdom and strength, but, i believe that there's only one thing that we could do: be united in praying that God may bring peace to earth.

Idolitry is forbiden in the Bible. These so called Gods are Demonic forces. Their is a verse which states are batle isnt against man but rulers and authoritys in spiritual realm, something to that. Those who find life in Christ will judge Angels.

Religion is the reason for most wars we ever fought. It should be forbidden from any place other than your home, just like smoking. That should include all Religions, without any exceptions. If we could manage that, we will be close to have world-piece.

Too many wars have been fought in the name of a god that it's impossible to think that there's anything "loving" about religion anymore.
