I'm reading this recipe for Chicken Korma (and Indian dish) and it says to use tomato sauce. So what kind is it? What spices? Does anyone know?

Tomato sauce is a red sauce that's generally flavored with garlic and spices served on such foods (example: pasta).

I can see why the recipe for chicken korma needs tomato sauce, this is already cooked & flavoured with galic & all the spices you would need for an Indian curry, for the Indian palate more spices would be called for,in general however the spices in the suace should do very well.

tomatoe sauce is made from tomato puree and tomato paste to thicken it. from there people will add certain spices or wines to flavor it according to what they're using it for. sauce that goes on pasta gets flavored differently than sauce that goes on pizza. if you are cooking an indian dish you might want to add some indian spices that you are already using in the dish. this will help the sauce compliment the dish.

rather than use a spaghetti sauce, go to the canned tomato section of market and look for cans of plain tomato sauce. it is cooked already with the right spices and salt to work in a recipe but not specifically flavored for italian cuisine.

They have just plain tomato sauce (Hunts and others probably) but probably any would do.
