He is quitting smoking pot and I am not going to be pushy or bossy with him I am solely going to be supportive because that it what he needs from me, but I am wondering how I can be supportive, and what I can do to help him the most?

I know some people who have become addicted to pot not just because of the pot but because of the nicotine in the tobacco they mix in with the pot. This makes quitting that much harder, especially if your bf isn't a cigarette smoker.
The best way to help another person through their addiction is to help him change his daily routines. Every addict has his triggers that make him want to use his drug of choice. If you can eliminate as many of those environmental triggers from your bf's life as possilbe this will make his quitting much easier.
He will be cranky. Big deal. It will pass, but don't let him get abusive towards you. Many addicts take more than one try to quit.
The best advice I ever got was this piece of info:

Every craving last 15-20 minutes. If you can find something else to do during those 15-20 minutes of cravings the next day will be that much easier and so on until the cravings become much weaker and stop controlling your life.
Tell your boyfriend good luck from me. You both have a battle ahead of you.

quitting something like that can be made easier by changing the interaction with people, places and things that remind you of the substance. You could try to find things to keep him busy, new activities, new patterns, etc. keeping busy is key! if he has times of day or situations where he usually would smoke, try to think of other ways to mark that time. if he always smokes when he comes home from work, maybe meet him out for dinner or a movie after work to switch it up a bit. or have a snack or a drink waiting for him? or change where you spend that time - so as to change his pattern beyond the weed - so its not the only missing thing. it's in part at least about removing triggers so he doesn't have as many times when the pot is noticeably missing from the picture. just let him talk when and if he needs to - and remember, most addicts end up trying to quit a few times before succeeding. you could also look into Narcotics Anonymous meetings in your area and offer to go with him, or go yourself to gain experience and knowledge if he's not ready yet. good luck! it's a hard thing, keep your head up.

I took a quit smoking class at the health department and they suggested saving up three dollars a day per person (the cost of a pack) and then go on vacation or buy something that you really want.

Help keep him out of normal smoking situations... like if he wakes up in the morning and smokes on the balcony with his coffee then keep him off the balcony and offer to watch the news with him while he drinks his coffee...

Alot of smoking is habit, if you take people away from the environments they are use to smoking in, it makes quitting alot easier....

another example, if he smokes in the car on the way to work.... send him out the door with a breakfast sandwich or something to occupy him from holding the cigarette.....

Be supportive!!! It doesn't help having an "additional supervisor", distract him and award him !!

Such technique helped me lots...
