my adorable toy poodle used to be pitch black and is now turning extremely gray. We love her to death no matter what color she is but I would like to maintain her black color. Where would I be able to buy safe dye for her? and would just normal human hair color be dangerous?? thanks!

you should love your dog no matter what color they are. Safety depends on type of dye. If you REALLY wanted to change your dogs natural fur color then I suggest that you take it to a doggy salon. Human dye might kill it. Most human stuff will. Just read the labels before using it on your dog and you and your poodle will be A-Okay! Good Luck :)

Are you crazy this is a dog not a human dogs get old they turn gray just like people leave the dog along let it grow old in peace. All the color in the world can't make the dog any younger.Has any one told you how long a poodle lives, how old is your dog?Let the dog grow old the way it was meant to without hair color that might burn its skin or get it into its eyes not a good ideal.

I don't mean to sound rude, so if I do, I'll apologize in advance, but if you love your poodle as much as you say, and I believe that you do, then leave her fur color be.

There's no good reason for changing her gray hair to black. If she doesn't care what color it is, then neither should you. It's not worth the stress you would put on her every time you had to re-color her hair.

As Laurie mentioned, she loves you no matter what. Let her be as she is.

Of course you can go to a salon to get your dog hair coloured, but think about it, do you really want to???cant you just let her grow old gracefully. Honestly, unless your showing, in which case colouring in my opinion is a bit on the cheating side, then adore and love her just the way she is.
She doesnt care if she is black white pink or purple, she loves you the way you are so accept her the way she is.

Ask youre local groomer to dye youre dog its a bit pricey but if you love youre dog then i thing it wil be fine and yes human hair color can affect her coat and the strong scent can damage her lungs.

i work with show dogs, and what we use is nice and easy, its safe if you are safe, but i dont reccommend it for long term use, usually its used a day or two before a show to make the dog look blacker than black, but as long as your dog is well trained and patient and your not a moron you should be ok
remember, its not a quick fix or a long term fix, most black poodles turn blue/grey by the time they are 4

leave your dog be. dogs are not humans and they are not meant to be dyed. im sure your dog could care less about what color she is. if you say you love her like you do, then just leave her be. most dogs dont like to be dyed anyway and you could traumatize her by doing so.

no human hair dye..... if you were to go pink,, i would say kool-aid.. but black..... i would highly suggest you talk to some breeder/exhibitors of poodles at a dog show,,, they know alll the tricks of the trade.

Talk to your vet before doing anything to your dog. And talk to some local dog groomers, they should know if anything is available.
