I was wondering is it really THAT weird for the lady to propose? Maybe not necessarilly weird, but a little unusual? Is it a bad thing or does it really matter??

I've always wanted to be asked in some creative, incredibly romantic way. Then one day we were joking around and I said what would you say if I asked you to marry me and he didnt even have to think about it he said I would say yes. Thats when it occured to me that instead of waiting for him to do something (which may be a while b/c he has been out of work on leave for about 2 months now, and he has incredibly expensive taste even though I told him I dont care how much the ring costs), that I could do it myself. I havent decided exactly how I'm going to do it, but I'm thinking about throwing him a surprise party at a friend's house (where we met), and doing it sometime then. So, after all my babbling, NO, it is not weird for the woman to propose, it is just a little less uncommon b/c of all the outdated notions that men should always be the asker. I say if women truly want equality, thats one idea that will have to be done away with.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it – follow your heart! I do add one caveat though – speaking as a guy, I think I’d find it a little emasculating if a girl got down on her knee and did the “traditional” proposal. Since you are blazing new trails – come up a new and creative way to pop the question. (His favorite sporting event maybe?) As long as you keep it fun it shouldn't bother him.

What is weird? There is no such thing now! So, if a girl wants to ask a guy then hey go for it! It all turns out the same in the end anyways.

Today anything goes. I give credit to any woman who does. It's all about making it special and memorable. What's more memorable than the woman asking? I think a woman could really come up with some unique ideas that would be a great story to tell their kids some day.

I personally have nothing against women who ask the men but....I would never ask because I want the thrill of seeing that ring and I have some insecurity problems so for me it is really important for him to make the move. Thats just me though..but I've made it EXTREMELY clear about how long I want to be together before we start making any plans or talking about it and I've also imbedded my ring size into his head by buying several rings for my ring finger...so he KNOWS (by the way those rings I never wear on my ring finger haha)

That would be a personal decision left to the person doing it. If one finds herself in a position to propose and wants to, there's no reason not to.
If my fiance hadn't proposed when he did, I probably would have sooner than later. I was thinking about it.

I believe that you should always follow your heart. If you feel strongly about someone, and they feel the same about you why not be the first one to ask. The worst thing he could do is say no. It's all about being comfortable and in love.

Not weird or unusual. If you are uncomfortable with it or think he might be you could just tell him "If you asked me to marry you I would say yes." Or ask him to guess what your answer would be.
