The Earth and the rest of the solar system is about 4.55 billion years (plus or minus about 1%). This value is derived from several different lines of evidence.
Unfortunately, the age cannot be computed directly from material that is solely from the Earth. There is evidence that energy from the Earth's accumulation caused the surface to be molten. Further, the processes of erosion and crustal recycling have apparently destroyed all of the earliest surface.
The oldest rocks which have been found so far (on the Earth) date to about 3.8 to 3.9 billion years ago (by several radiometric dating methods). Some of these rocks are sedimentary, and include minerals which are themselves as old as 4.1 to 4.2 billion years. Rocks of this age are relatively rare, however rocks that are at least 3.5 billion years in age have been found on North America, Greenland, Australia, Africa, and Asia.
Of course, if you're a Creationist or fundy Christian, then the earth is like about 4000 years old. FOUR THOUSAND YEARS.

Maybe it is 4.5 billion years old, but a friend of mine says that carbon dating might be wrong, and earth might be only a few million years old, so I am not sure. The bible shows that there is several thousand years since the existance of humans, plus any time previous to this, it might add up to 4.5 billion years. No one can really know exactly how old the earth is but i think 4.5 billion years is an educated guess. I believe in the bible and am christian.

I have no idea. Since it is something that I have not yet researched. It would be wrong of me to answer.
Though I have read 2 possible answers.
Side #1:
Billions of years old.
Side #2:
Less than 10,000 years old.
Side #3:
6,000 years old.
I'm sorry, make that 3 possible answers.

I don't quite remember, but I recall something along the lines of 4/5 billion years. Whenever it was formed from whatever nebula it came from...because I really don't believe that *poof*! A god or Jesus made it out of nothing, or whatever. It grew from dust and celestial material. Let's face it. That's how planets are being formed today, so why not ours?
