No matter what happens in Iraq, the citizens of the good old USA have to support you guys!
Unfortunately, Bush (Sr.) didn't go all of the way the first time; perhaps if he had, we wouldn't be taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
I feel sorry for you guys. This is turning into another example of Vietnam. Are you old enough to remember Vietnam? For more than 10 years, we sent troops over there along with our allies and lost close to 60,000 brave young men and women (in some cases). I lost at least two of my high school classmates KIA.
Do you know the ending? That's right; we pulled out with our tails between our legs in 1975. Is Vietnam any better off nowadays without us?
We tried so hard to save another people that we lost sight of the fact the we couldn't.
My thoughts on this are that we should pull out and let the Iraqis take care of themselves. Did you see an chemical weapons? Did you see any of the stuff Bush was always trying to find? (WMD's)
Well, enough complaining from here. I don't want to upset you guys over there.
Good luck and we'll pray for you and all of your fellow soldiers.
Semper Fidelis!

I',m with you. This war is a mistake. My friends have died and sent some more of my buddies back to fight again.
I got to old to go back. Then after being here for awhile I have to wonder what is this all about? Why were we dieing and getting our legs blown off. Do the Islamic religion appreciate our sacrifice. NO they hate us. We are the infidels they hate.
so why are we protecting them from each other?
They put bombs on children and send them in to be sucide bombers. They don't think twice about killing their own children.
They are trained to be killers from birth. They grown up knowing nothing but hate. I had hopes are being there made a difference that some were turning into normal kids. and they were.
For that we are hated. We are not over there for their oil or making any money. Just doing our duty.

If you're this excited about a tiny war with insignificant casualties and such a short duration as the Iraq war, how would your tiny little brain have handled a real world war like WW II, where in a single weekend tens of thousands of American troops died at Normandy, and in about two weeks 500,000 Germans died retreating from the Russian front, German cities were being bombed into the stone age, Tokyo was being leveled by firebombing and in a single day (twice) a Japanese city went up in a mushroom cloud?
I talked to my mother-in-law in Manila about this once. She still has a bullet in her leg from the Japanese retreat from Manila. She patiently listened for awhile and then she just shook her head and said, "you have no idea what a real war is".
And the truth is, we don't. We've been blessed with incredibly low death rates even among civilians, and we've been blessed that the war is relatively contained to just a small number of cities and very few people for us to fight.

I think Bush needs to stay the course, finish it right. Them sick people there , like Nam war, uses their own kids as bomb carriers, just to kill American Soldiers. If I was there, and a child was fixing to shoot me point blanks, as they are trained to do, I would not even have a fraction of a second to decide, but self preservation is first reaction to something like this, yes, I would do what I had to do. War has always been hell, but kill or be killed, regardless of age sometime is a forced decision. Even in US civilization, neighbors have been targeted by 10 to 12 yr old carrying firearms, so, you bet I will defend myself. Just because one is a child, like in war, does not mean they will not kill you.

What just about everyone else thinks. It's a mess at times troops didn't know what they were there to do, with all the big bucks alloted for the war there remains shortage of supplies and inferior accessories. Before starting a WAR shouldn't those in leadership consult with sources that will enable them to succeed or just send in other people's lives and play it by ear?

If at all possible, DON'T shoot to kill, okay? I know, it's not easy; I've faced it myself, and still kick myself each day, especially these days. And as to my opinion, I think we should've cashed out Hussein's chips back in 1991, when I was there. But that's just my opinion.
As my old Sergeant used to say: Keep your head up, your *** down and your helmet on! And don't obsess over what might happen or might not happen; just deal with it, and don't let it get to you.
Good luck, Soldier.

first of all there is no way that you are in Iraq right now, you have earned too many points for that in too short a time unless you have no job over there.. second. if you were over ther you would have been instructed on the rules of combat.. I am a veteran and that is taught in boot camp and re taught all during training sessions,, you would not have to shoot an innocent child unless you had a real good reason and you have squad leaders and platoon sergeants to teach you when to shoot and who to shoot... silly boy.. trying to get some liberal points for the cause..lol

I'm sorrier than I can say about your position. I wish I knew for sure why you and all the others were sent there to begin with. I wish I knew how to cut through all the B.S. and get you home. I wish I could promise you'd be well cared for when you get back. We're all corporate slaves now and if we don't start remembering how to talk to each other, care for each other, respect each other, we'll all be in your position soon enough.

I just want them to find Osama. If they aren't looking they should just leave. I mean he was the guy who organized the attacks, right? I could not kill a child. Its just too hard. War makes us different. I don't know from experience. But having to kill people bothers me a lot. I don't want blood on my hands.

I think that if we had gone all out in the very beginning, it would have been over by now. Now I'm not so sure that winning is possible.
