I feel led by god on this path but I have not yet figured out how one is to start with such an undertaking. (Its a calling that I had been running from for some time)

First off, pray for wisdom, strength, and encouragement..

Second, pray that God would provide you with mentors that you can go to for advice, pray with you, hold you accountable, and encourage you.

Third, pray specifically that God would provide men with equal passion for this ministry that will support, pray and encourage you.

Because one of the key ways that God works is that He'll surround you with encouragement from the church if you seek what truly is His will. If His hand is truly going before you. A lot of stones in the road will be brushed aside for you.

My best to you in this endeavor and if God is truly in this, May He bless and encourage you throughout your ministry. Now, one last word of encouragement... You realize that you're about to strap a bulleyes on your back for Satan. He's going to do everything he can to divert you. Be of good cheer though and stick to the Word. If it isn't in there, it generally isn't of God.

Ari kinder, I had that feeling once about mission work on the Apache Indian Reservation and Satan tried to tell me that I was not a preacher, so there was nothing I could do. In a dream soon after, the Lord told me that He had given me a testimony, and to go out and give it. I didn't have the resources for paying for a trip from Alabama to San Carlos, Arizona for my wife and I, so I went to the bank and made a loan. We went and met several of the Apaches, gave out two cases of Bibles. We had three people to get saved. After retuning home, I felt that I left some things undone and prayed for God to make a way for another trip. The next day, my neighbor called wanting to buy some of my property, which I sold and made another trip. We seen four saved this time and we are planing on going back about April.
We now plan on making this a regular service. Trust and Obey, There is no other way. When we accepted Christ, we became Disciples and we are instructed to go out and spread the Gospel.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you and Bless you. preid70@msn.com.

If you are 40 or less, then get a good college education, then find a good seminary that is strong on languages and interpretation-like Dallas Theological Seminary. If you don't want to do that-then it is probably the devil calling you to fail at ministry. Trust what I say. There are too many men and women in ministry who can not interpret the Word. That is dangerous in a church. Cults usually come from uneducated ministers. Just look at the Pentecostal and Charismatic denominations-constant sex and financial scandals.

someone else answered all the technical aspects...so.....

be sure you can explain the doctrines of the faith to others...example, do you really understand the trinity? can you explain it? you need to be able to answer tough questions.

love others, or quit

share what you have and know, whether you get paid or not....

go witness to the lost....do not hide in the church because it pays well and it is comfortable.. you may be popular but you will be useless to the mission of saving the lost

remember it is the lost and the newly saved that needs a pastor, not the mature believers...the mature are supposed to read their bibles and be led by the spirit, then share what they know...and think for themselves..

You will need to be ordained and licensed. You will need seminary after your Bachelor's degree, for most Protestant denominations anyway. Not sure what's required for the priesthood.

Have you thought about the military chaplaincy? Look up "The Work of a Chaplain" through Amazon books, excellent resource for those wanting to work in this field.

Pray, get in the Word, step out and minister! Just begin to teach. Start a small group or something. Gather people in your livingroom for Bible study. When God can trust you with the small things, he will then move you to the big things.

First you need to pray and ask God which way He would have you go. After you have prayed, study the Scripture and God will lead you in the path that He would have you go. Don't forget to ask the Holy Spirit for understanding before you start.

nicely it is the incorrect thanks to respond to your question certain, notwithstanding why are you asking the question, are you attempting to be adversarial or are you fairly in search of options? if you attempt to be adversarial and also you're succeeding at pi**ing human beings off what's the challenge. when you're fairly in search of options i ought to indicate going to an section Christian Church and sitting down with someone head to head and asking your questions. for 2 causes, One the guy your talking to will more effective than likely be a Christian, and 2 there's much extra threat for some authentic interactionbetween both of you.

Ask yourself if you're really not interested in power. Are you starting a ministry for the same reasons teenaged boys start rock bands?

Step out in faith.
God will do it. He uses the weak, not the "qualified".
Pray.
You don't need a 5 year plan.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
