There are many types of food poisoning and recovery time depends on the pathogen.

A worm like parasite can infect people who eat under cooked pork, but that is very rare these days, especially in North America and other developed countries with high standards for their meat industries.

E coli, salmonella, and listeria bacteria food poisoning can come from all food sources. These are intestinal problems ranging from mild to fatal.

In order to give an accurate answer you need to explain WHAT type of food poisoning you caught.

If you have a high fever, BLOOD in your stool or vomit, please go to hospital and get yourself checked into the emergency room.

Most bouts of food poisoning last about 24 - 36 hours (and usually start in four to eight hours after ingesting the bad food depending on the strain of bacteria)

Salmonella will last about a week.

Hope this helps
