And, why do Blacks (Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton) say it was an Insult for Senator Biden to call Obama a clean African American?

Will such complaints from the Blacks help or hurt Obama's chance to be chosen as the Democratic Candidate for President?

PS: I am for Hillary and Obama to team up. Hillary for President because of her experience and senority. Obama for his enthusiasm, intelligence and sense of fair play.
Have I just insulted Obama?

Dear "on a mis" - I too, disdain stereotyping, however, I believe in this case (most) verbal blacks did consider it an insult. I really want to know why, if it is different that what the news reports. BTW- Whoopie said the same as others, I cannot believe that is the only reason. I wonder what the other reasons could be.

Dear wisdom _ I am sorry to bring it up on this chat group instead of another chat group. But, I think of this group as my family.

"AC" As I understood it, Jackson and Sharpton did say chill on one of the comments but not the other. I may have it mixed up which was which. But, I still feel there is something we (I) don't understand.

Wow, "tina" - good rebellion. I was the same way when I was young. "Don't trust anyone over 30." was my expression

Dear "Truth" --Wow I spent my career protecting people that were discriminated against because of race, creed, age, religion, or national origin. Now, by asking a question I am accused of being ignorant with an implication that I am a "bigot".

"Matt" - You have an interesting point. That happened to Howard Dean in the last Democratic Primary.

No matter what is said and meant to be a compliment, some people will be offended by the remark. You can't please 'em all!

It was a compliment given and deliberately blown into the negative proportion. Why , is a good Question. Had Al Sharpton , said that, no one would even notice. Senator Biden spoke highly about Obama and did not deserve to be shot down. Senator Biden did not insult Obama.

I'm black, but I don't consider it an insult to refer to someone like Barack Obama as being articulate. He IS articulate! I think some people took offense to Senator Biden's Obama remark because Senator Biden made it sound like Barack Obama is the first black presidential candidate that has any real intelligence and/or qualifications, which I disagree with. I think if Senator Biden researched past black presidential candidates before making that comment, he wouldn't have made it.

It was an insult. I don't think Biden meant it that way....but the implication was that Obama was clean cut...and he had to make the distinction because most are not. That's also the implied insult of calling an African American articulate. What we really mean is...you sound white. You don't sound like an ignorant black person.

Why didn't you just say Jesse Jackson and Al Saharpton instead of stereo typing all blacks. I think it is because you are Ignorant. You will see when the son of man comes, how much power blacks have.

Why not just ask about Al Sharpten and Jesse Jackson, why stupidly group all blacks together. I guess one or two people can be your represenative for a whole race.
Why dont I take Marliyn Manson and Rob Zombie ...and ask why do white people wear crazy makeup.

You tell me, your the a liberal. Its your people that take peoples compliments and try to twist them around to be insults. Seriously though, I think that the Hillary people must have been concerned with Biden and decided to destroy him on the first day. Its crazy how they do it.

As the person above said, what he said was an insult to all the other African American politicians. Maybe it was meant as a joke, but it certainly wasn't taken as one.

He wasn't trying to be racist, but up front it sounded like he was saying that most blacks aren't clean and articulate.
Sharpton and Jackson told everyone to chill.
