Congratulations! It's exciting to be able to see out of your own eyes again! I know it took me a while to get used to them (putting them in & taking them out) it does get easier & becomes second nature. Mine are daily wear soft contact lenses. Most of the time they're comfortable but sometimes my eyes will get dry & comfort drops help. You're not supposed to wear them more than 10 hours at a time. If you haven't gone to get them yet they will measure your eyes & fit you with a pair. They will show you how to put them in etc & give you instructions for cleaning them. There are a lot of "no rub" solutions available now so cleaning & storing is easy. You just take them out & put them in the case & keep them covered with liquid. You have to make sure to keep them wet at all times or they shrivel up. Although they will moisten again (as I learned when I finally found a shrivelled up lens on the floor!) if you soak them in solution for a while. So don't throw them out!
There are disposable ones available too but I found them a little pricey so I never went that route but I imagine they'd be quite comfortable because it's always a fresh pair & then you just throw them away (after whatever the time period is, a day or a week, I'm not sure how they work...)
It can be a nuisance when you drop one. They're hard to find! Coloured ones would be a little easier. I've only ever had clear ones.
I still wear glasses half the time to give my eyes a break. If I haven't had much sleep & my eyes are red & sore it's too painful to wear my contacts.
Good luck!
:)

I've been wearing contacts for a very long time and wouldn't go back. My 13 year old daughter just got contacts and had a difficult time at first. After a few days she got used to them and she really likes them now. She just had a little trouble putting them in and taking them out for the first few days. Most doctors prescribe daily wear, disposable lenses. You put them in every morning and take them out every night and then you throw them away approximately once a month to start a new pair. You'll put them in a contact case filled with saline solution or multi purpose solution when you're not wearing them. Carry a bottle of saline solution or contact lens eye drops so if one comes out or if they get dry. Always wash your hands before handling your contacts. Put on your eye makeup after you put your contacts in. You do not want to sleep in your contacts for extended lengths of time. Taking a nap every now and then is ok but don't sleep in them every night. I had gotten a pair of extended wear lenses one time that were made to sleep in and I ended up with neovascularization, which means new vein growth. So, don't sleep in your contacts. Another thing, never try to take your contacts out if they are dry, you can hurt your eye. Be sure to do whatever your doctor tells you and keep your appointments. Enjoy, contacts are much better than glasses.

take this from a personwho has contacts for 1 year. When i first got them, i wasn't sure either. When you get them, they nomally put you in a room by yourself with the person who takes care of contacts. Then they show you how to put them in. Then you try it yourself. You need to be patient, you probably won't get them in on your first try, probably not second either, maybe not even third. I thought you would still feel something on your eyes, but you don't. As far as colored ones, not too sure. They will tell you all about them & everything else you need to know. Just remember, BE PATIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have contacts!!! lol anyways...what can you expect?Wow,a lot...taking them out every night, people say it's bad to sleep with them...I do and nothing has happen to me....Expect your contacts moving out of place and you begin to start seeing everything blurry...You trying to put them on and they fall off your finger and onto the ground...and certainly wasting a lot of money for the solution...but it's not all bad once you get used to them!!!Colored contacts? Can't help you...I personally find them to make your eyes to look incredibly fake!!!

Expect the first few times putting in your contacts are going to be difficult. You are not used to putting a finger so close to your eye, and chances are, you are going to have problems putting in your contact lenses. Just be patient, it will be worth it.
Goog luck
