I personally don't like a restaurant proposal... but anything can be made romantic i guess. I've worked in a lot of restaurants and i've seen a lot of people get engaged while i was working and there's just so many people around and i don't know... not my thing. I personally would go for something a lil more quiet... maybe a picnic in the backyard by candlelight or something to that effect. I like the idea of unique proposals. and as far as being on your knees, do whatever is more comfortable for you.

I really think you should maybe put the ring in her dessert and when she goes to take a bite there is the ring! That is very romantic. Then after you see that suprised look on her face you pop the question. Maybe you should get married on March 11 thats a day nothing's on so far atleast i think. But what ever you do what you feel comfortable with Valentines Day is when EVERYONE is sharing eachothers love. dddheck345@yahoo.com is where you can reach me email me with all the good news ok good-bye and good luck and congrats!!

I think it's seriously cute of you to want to propose on Valentine's Day. (Then again, my fondness for the holiday may be biased seeing as it's also my birthday, but anyway.) I'm not sure if this would work for everybody, but my uncle slipped the ring on his girlfriend while she was sleeping and waited all day for her to notice it. (Let's just say she's not the brightest crayon in the box.) But she finally noticed it when she was washing the dishes that night, and she screamed and jumped around and the whole shebang. It sounded very cute, from the way he described it, but your girlfriend could very well be much more observant/a lighter sleeper and notice it while you were putting it on and ruin the whole thing.
As for the down on the knees thing--I, personally, hate it. It looks silly. But once I saw a guy propose to this girl in a restaurant, and when he got down on his knees, she got down too even though she was in a really expensive-looking evening gown, saying she wanted to be eye-to-eye with him when she said yes.

Well I was going to say on the way to the resturant, Have a billbord on the side of the road asking her to marry you then. And when she sees it, it will shock the ----- out of her. Then when you get to the resturant still ask her on your knees. That will be some thing she will never ever forget. She will Love it. Good Luck

Ok well... I just got engaged and my fiance did it in the most romantic way possible. He took me out to dinner at this elegant restaurant that had a very romantic and secluded ambiance to it. We were celebrating our two year anniversary and he gave me a card. I opened a card and in it was a check from him and it said To: You... In the Amount of: All of Me... at that moment he presented me with this GORGEOUS KIRK KARA RING and got down on one knee!! It is an amazing 18kw ring that is hand engraved. It is so stunning! Of course I said yes! And now I am definately going to look on the Kirk Kara website to find my wedding band. I am telling you... that was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me... and if you need are looking for engagement rings go to kirkkara.com... their line is breathtaking! Good Luck!

Oh kiddo....as romantic as proposing is on Valentine's Day, it's also become a cliche and predictable. If you really want to spend the rest of your life with this lady, then make it a special day that is not related to a "Hallmark" day. Birthdays, holidays and anniversaries are already tied into something special. This should be too!! Ask her to marry you when she's not expecting it - she will remember it better!

Listen very carefully, do not, i repeat DO NOT propose on Valentines day. Valentines day is a day when everyone shares their love, your idea is sweet, but I think your girlfriend would love it even more if you two could have a day all your own. Your idea sounds great, and yes get down on your knee, make sure you ask the parents, and just because you are getting engaged does not mean you need to get married right away, take you time and enjoy, but please fore the love of god wait like one day, pretend you forgot valentines day take her out the day after and propose and tell her you waited because you wanted to have a day all your own, she will love that.

If you had more time you could have an original proposal song written, my friend writes original songs here is one he is working on as a proposal song. I don't think it's finished yet, it's not on their site, but you might use the lyrics.
Proposal Song
I thank God for you each and every night
The one who makes my life complete
You are the love, I’ve waited for
You are the breath in me
my every thing in life
Chores
I want you beside me when I lie down at night
So I can wake with you in mornings light
I want you to be forever in my life
Like the seed that finds the warmth of spring
I feel the tenderness your love can bring
You bring purpose to my life
You are my breath
my every thing in life
Chores
I want to be with you when I lie down at night
Wake beside you in mornings light
I want you forever as my wife

Definatly go down on your knee ( or knees). Girls dream about the moment a man will go down on his knees, and they actually visualize a man on his knees, not sitting on his duff like he always does. It makes it more special.
Also, it makes the girl feel flattered. Here you're this big strong man and you love her so much it brings you to your knees. It's sweet.
Congratulations, Best wishes!

I read about this guy who asked a girl out, by getting a bunch of deflated balloons, and putting in each (except one) a little note or joke. The notes can be like, "I love the way you kiss" or "Remember when..." and then something about the first time you met or your 1st anniversary. Then he inflated them all with helium and filled her room with 'em. And in the last one (which was put in the closet) was the note "Will you go out with me?" Yours could say "Will you marry me?" but I don't suggest putting the ring in there, because when it pops, it'll fly out and you might not be able to find it!
