thats more of a question to take up with your coach, however I would suggest a more arobic workout , power equals nothing if you dont have the speed, agility and well lung capacity to punch it out for x number of rounds

It would be helpful if I knew your base. I would say keep elbows in. Chin down. Hands about eye level. Throw your jab straight with no fidgeting or body movement that tips you are throwing it. Pivot your right foot when you throw your right hand. Pivot your left foot when you throw your left hook.

Buy the Kenny Weldon Learn to Box series. It is very good!

Really focus on what the other person is going to do. If you can notice certain things before their attacks, you have the control. If they go up to hit your head, guess what? their whole body is open for an attack. You just have to look which quadirants open. If they normally block their torso, go for their head or legs ect. It's easy when you get the hang of it.

P.S. really try to make it so your friend or opponent never knows when you're about to attack. glid with your feet don't just step in.

1. Turn your wrists when you punch.
2. Aim for the throat, not the head.
3. Use shoulders to hide chin - when punching use opposite shoulder.
4. Circle your opponent, don't move front/back or side/side. Keeps 'em off balance.
5. Pay attention to their feet and punch before they get set to throw a punch.
6. Use jab - jab high/jab low - stops momentum.

Good luck.

You were given good information. If I may add one more thing and that is to learn how to defend yourself also.

STAY CALM AND KEEP MOVING BUT YOU MUST BE IN SHAPE. TALK TO SOME OLDER GUYS AT YOUR LOCAL GYM AND THEY WILL HELP YOU.
