My neighbor has several outdoor cats and they are always climbing over the fence and getting on my car, I always smell cat urine too. What is a good way to scare them off? I heard about putting up fishing line on top of my fence to prevent them from hopping the fence, but that didn't work. Please help! Thanks!

in all respect you need to ask your neighbors to keep their cats indoors or contact your local animal shelter and let them know that there are cats who are free roaming your area. Most states now have laws that says pet animals cannot be left freely roaming without supervision and this also applies to cats.

The car alarm idea might work, but cats soon learn to ignore the abnoxious noise. Water sprinklers work great and it's unexpected and cats hate being wet.

Squirt bottle with water works best. They are attracted to the warmth of the car. You need to wet everything down on a regular basis to prevent the urine smell.

Buy your neighbour a catnip plant to put in their garden to try and prevent the cats from coming over. Explain nicely that you don't like the cats on your car and would appreciate any help with ideas on how to keep them away. Tell the neighbour that you realise it;s impossible to keep the cats away, but you would appreciate any help.

Have a car alarm installed. Then when the cats are on or near the car, using the panic button on the remote set off the alarm. this will scare the cats from being near the car. Tell your neighbor that you wish their cats do not enter your yard.

Get a cat yourself.
It will mark your yard as it's territory and other cats will stay away. If other cats do come near, your cat will probably scare them off because they're invading on his territory.

they are only trying to get some warmth from the engine, and cat urine really stinks go to your local sports store and get a bullhorn you know the things they use at sporting events and when you catch or see them on your car give the horn a blast that should scare them off.

Buy a car cover and present the bill to your neighbor, or park your car in their yard.

Don't apply hot spices to deter cats. It will also get on your shoes and you will tromp it everywhere. The spice will hurt their eyes, as well as wildlife and they may try to scratch it out of their eyes. Put some on your eyes and see how it feels.

Hose around your car to get rid of the urine smell.

Perhaps they are trying to hitchhike outa there. Are they being well cared for?

put fake fish on the car. the cats will think the smell is from real fish. they might throw the "fish" at you as you walk by but its better than having them on your car. or you could just drive.
