Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17
When we open our hearts to Jesus we become new in the sense that our spirit is born and we now have with in us a place for the Holy Spirit to reside in us. We learn to live in the spirit, the new man, and put to death the old man, which is our flesh. Our new man is after God, which means the Holy Spirit gives us the desire with in our spirit to seek God's way, whereas the old man of the flesh seeks the ways of the flesh.
Who am I in the Spirit? I am a new creature in Christ totally relying on the Holy Spirit to work God's will and purpose in and through me.

A just saved believer has not yet reached the new man stage. It's a process, like being born and growing up. You mutter, then slowly learn to speak, you roll, then crawl, then slowly learn to walk. You may stumble and fall along the way but IF you continue in the word, you will get there. God promised us WARFARE. The devil will fight every step of the way and will deceive many. IF they turn again to God, they can continue.

Almost the same either way, the only difference is His presence.
I have a fear that causes me to hesitate and make certain what I say is right, only because I don't want to say something that is not true or could be misunderstood. There is a fine line drawn in serving God without any will of my own. I don't want to stumble, I don't ever want to fall from His presence.

Since I died to myself, there is only one option. The Spirit of God.

I have been co-crucified with Jesus Christ; I have been planted together with Him in burial; and I have been co-resurrected with Him by the power of God, and made to sit in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
(Ephesians 2:4-6)
It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life I now live I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved Me and gave himself up for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God, because if righteousness comes by keeping a set of laws, Christ died for nothing.
(Galatians 2:20,21)

We are to be spiritually minded. To be carnally minded is death. We are to purify our hearts, because an impure heart leads to double-mindedness. And we have to cleanse our hands, not sin, because sin can cause our faith to shipwreck.
