What's with this easy-believeism going on in "supposed" Christian churches today?

I've heard people saying, "just sign this card", or "repeat this prayer, and Jesus will save you..." Where's REPENTANCE? Aren't certain leaders in Christianity giving people a hope of Heaven and sending them off to spend an eternity in a devil's hell?

Have they forgotten Jesus' OWN WORDS? "....Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish". (Luke 13:3)

I'm not talking about MY church! I'd get up and walk out of any church I attended that started watering down the Gospel. I'm saying I hear this CONSTANTLY on the radio, on TV, etc, and I find it disturbing!!

I am a FIRM believer in ONCE SAVED always saved; since we are SEALED by the Holy Spirit at the time of our Salvation (Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:30). It is NOT a license to sin, it is however, God's GIFT of Everlasting Life (John 3:16). But there must be repentance first!!

Reread my question, sweetie. I'm not talking about true Christians...I'm talking about the ones who tell you to walk down an isle and repeat a prayer to BE saved. And WHO says Christians are perfect? NOT ME!

We CONTINUALLY must repent when we've sinned as believers. We do NOT, however have to "atone" for anything. JESUS paid it all when He die in our place. He was our ATONEMENT for sin. We can atone for NOTHING; we can merely repent when we sin against a Holy God to restore fellowship. Our Salvation, though, remains intact. For a believer, the ONLY thing we can lose are rewards.

(1co 3:11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
(1co 3:12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
(1co 3:13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
(1co 3:14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
(1co 3:15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Please note that in the context of the above mentioned scriptures in 1 Corinthians, Paul was speaking to Christians, NOT unbelievers. He was talking about the Judgment seat of Christ or the "Bema Seat" Judgment which is reserved for Christians.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. (2 Corinthians chapter 5)

Some organizations are corrupted with the "venom of Judas" (Foxe's Book of Martyrs). They are more interested in numbers, both in the pews and in the treasury or their wallets than in preaching it straight and pure from God's Word.
Definitely a sign of the times. Look up, your redemption draweth nigh.

Yes this is exactly what most of them are preaching. They know most people don't want to hear that they need to give up their sins so they avoid this topic because they want numbers and the more people sitting in their pews the fuller the offering plate gets. They push so hard to get people to say the sinners prayer that they don't worry about the reality of the persons spiritual condition. It creates a false hope in those people who then think that they are going to heaven but they will end up in the Lake of Fire. That is why I started an anti-church / pro-God site.

They heaped to themselves preachers with itching ears.

I know.Without repentance, the person doesn't have an understanding of how sinful we really are,and they don't grasp the concept of atonement or salvation. Then they say a prayer, without knowing what it really means, and when they face problems, they just throw in the towel and give up.

Well, I suppose that most of the folks who are in Church have already repented and accepted Christ. Repent means to turn from sin, the sin of unbelief is the one that sends you to hell. We all struggle with some type of sin and trusting in Jesus to help is the only way to overcome. But beating people over the head saying you are going to hell if you are not perfect, is not scriptural.

Your point/question is valid. I think that many churches shy away from the "turn or burn" approach for fear of losing the few people who are newcomers . Most people do not want to hear that approach at the beginning of their investigation of Christianity. It might be that it is better left to a one-on-one situation, which would, hopefully, be less intimidating.

Wow, thats odd, my church has repentance a lot, and we actually take the time to list our sins and pray. I'll pray for your church to give better repentance, God bless.

Welcome to how catholics have felt for the last 400 years since the doctrine of "once saved always saved" first hit the market (despite what the Bible actually says on the subject).

EDIT: how can you be "once saved always saved" and then turn around and continue to sin? All sin is needful of repentance. Why else would we be told to "work out [our] salvation in trembling"? What you're pushing as "once saved always saved" is not what I'm referring to, wherein I have heard certain protestants tell me that after "accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior" that it doesn't matter what sins they commit or if they even bother to atone for those sins.

There is no forgiveness apart from repentance. This is the last days, when the salt has lost its savour. Jesus is coming back soon.

Why repent? Some guy supposedly took away all your sins two millenia ago, leaving you to do as you wish without guilt!
