I started cold symptoms a week ago with just a sore throat. Then maybe 2 days into it i started with a stuffy nose, which is basically gone now. I do however still have a lingering cough - although it's only been a week. I used to get bronchitis often when i was younger but I don't want to go to the doctor just to be given antibiotics when all i have is a virus and it will go away in another week anyways. How long is too long to wait?

I have the same cold symptoms. I spoke to the pharmacist and he says unless you have a lot of mucus from the cough it will probably clear up in a few weeks at most. If it lasts more than 2 weeks then you should see a doctor.

I would probably go after 2 weeks because for me, only bronchitis produces such a lingering cough, and I'd want antibiotics!

I saw a report on pbs that whooping cough is back - go get checked. Especially if you have insurance; there is no reason for you not to go.
