I live approx. one mile from the broadcasting tower and below it in a valley. Would that hinder my reception of the HD signal?

Perhaps by slightly moving your antenna to the correct direction you can get a better signal.

Sometimes it is also VERY weather-dependent for weak signals

I have just bought a samsung 32" Lcd HDTV, last Monday, and I could not believe the difference in picture quality. It is the best one out there, for the price. It is like you are right there, and I am very happy with my purchase. To get to your question, I really don't know why you cannot get fox in HD. I Guess it could have something to do with you living in the valley, but it seems odd that you can get all the other stations in HD, and not Fox broadcast. Are you connected to a cable system, or satellite, or are you using an antenna? If an antenna, try moving it into different positions, that could make a difference. I hope you can get it figured out..Good Luck..

Yes radio signals are line-of-sight technology and need to be no more than half a mile under or over your antenna or tv to get a reliable signal. Since ur in a valley u may be lower than the broadcasting antenna.
