No God=No Hell=No Judgment=No Sin=No Commandment= I can do whatever I choose and I don't have to answer to anyone about it. I wonder why people who only have an intellectual problem with the Bible, have such a strong concern with punishment for sin?

I'm willing to bet the guy just convicted of rape or murder wishes nobody would "push" their views on him either. Guilty and they know it. I'm sure the Devil says the same things, "why won't they just let me be me," and "you are so intolerant". My favorite, "I was born this way." "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" John 3:3

To Christians: Check the Scriptures and see if what I'm saying is true. Romans ch 1-3

To Atheists and Christians: If this seems harsh, good, so is eternal separation from God. Romans ch 1-3 ch 10 for the way of reconciliation.

Atheism is the religion of self.

A man rejects God neither because of intellectual demands nor because of the scarcity of evidence. A man rejects God because of a moral resistance that refuses to admit his need for God.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down there buddy. Sure, some atheists have a sin problem, but not ALL. You don't see me stealing stuff, but I'm an atheist.

You sound like a Christian, so I'm going to answer this like you are one. You say eternal seperation from God is harsh, right? Sure, that may be true. But then ask yourself this question. Why is YOUR god sending his own children to Hell and eternal torture? And look in the Bible. Slavery? That's fine by Him. Stoning people to death? Yep, seems normal to him. Wow, moral judgement says that slavery's wrong, so does stoning people, I suppose.

This is a very silly, presumptuous, question...but because I'm a glutton for punishment I'll answer it anyway. I have an intellectual problem with the Christian concept of sin and how it relates to God. You can quote scripture all day long. It's meaningless to me because I don't believe in it. It is simply insane, and DANGEROUS, to believe or teach that God treats all sin equally, and that the punishment for sin is eternal damnation in hell.

God is supposed to be infinitely wiser and more loving then we are. If as a parent, I told you that i was punishing my child for disrespecting me by locking him in the basement for the rest of his life....you'd call child welfare. It's not a sane response. Neither is the idea of banishing anyone to hell who doesn't accept Jesus as a saviour. That idea is insane. Bonkers. It's lunacy. It's dangerous. And you can quote any scripture you want.....but by human standards of justice, love, kindness, and SANITY....that position is insane. Totally insane.

What kind of Omnipotent, perfect being would banish someone to hell for not believing in him when he provided no truth of his existence? It is irrational. If there is a God that does that....I want no part of him. That by nature is not a God anyone could define as loving...or good. In fact it would be something to condemn as evil. If the Christian God needs fear to promote himself...I want no truck with that God. I would rather go to hell then spend an eternity with an entity like that.

I don't have an intellectual problem with God or sin. I have an intellectual problem with the beliefs I see passed off as Christianity. It is inconsistent with any morally acceptable definition of God.

As an atheist, I must say that you're wrong.

Most atheists realize that if we commit a serious wrong in our lifetime, we're going to be remembered for the bad thing(s) we did.

Christians would tend to believe that they could commit a 'sin', and then be forgiven by God.

You do realize, right, that quoting Bible verses doesn't make the Bible or Christianity true, and certainly doesn't make you intellectual.

Newsflash Christian.

We do believe in "sin", we do believe in judgement, we do believe in hell. Only we hold that it all occurs here on earth.

If I harm another person (sin), then others will be angry with me (judgement), I will be angry with myself (judgement) and will be punished (hell). We are held to consequence in this life and in the decisions we make here with our friends, families and society.

Are you actually implying that if I proved today that God doesn't exist, you would soon embark on a spree of rape and murder? Are you that disgusting and insane? I don't believe in any eternal hell (despite your inane warnings) and I have no problem whatsoever avoiding such depravities. The fact that you imply otherwise for yourself should scare every person living near you.

Because what you are saying is that your "belief" in something you can't prove exists is the only thing keeping you from raping and murdering folks. Ick...that's scary.

Hand, there are Christians that have problems with the Bible because they want to twist it their own way. And Dolly, you're just plain wrong. Hitler wasn't Christian, in fact he admired Islam more as a warriors' religion because it provided blind zealots that could be easily manipulated. You should explore the Nazi/Muslim connection, it's an historical reality. Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin--all the really great horrendous massacres were carried out under athiesm.

BARF.

So, what youre saying is that, without your mythical God, you'd be running around raping kids and killing people... Wow. Remind me to stay far away from your crackpot self....

As an Atheist, the issue I have is that there is ZERO evidence for a God that loves all his creations so he punishes them with Hell for eternity when they make a finite mistake of not beleiveing in him for 70 years.... Chew on that buddy.

LOL you are going to attract a lot of flames for this one, as it is a tad provocative.

I am a Christian and I think your statement is too generalized. Sure, some people pursue atheism due to a sin addiction. BUT, some people become atheists due to HURT in their lives, and they can't reconcile this with God's all-goodness.

We need to be instruments of God's love and peace in this world. Very few people become a Christian through an argument. If your goal was to evangelize by posting this, I think you need to delete and start over. I would advise finding an atheist and seeing how you can help him or her in his or her day-to-day life. Be a friend, and you can learn a lot from him or her too! Good luck.
