SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION.
The sypmtoms I have are in brakets.

[ depressed mood or sadness most of the time ] - I try to put on a happy face so people won't make fun of me and call me "emo" or whatever
lack of energy and feeling tired all the time
inability to enjoy things that used to bring pleasure
[ withdrawal from friends and family ] - Ever since my parents divorce, I haven't felt as close to them as I was when I was younger. I never feel like I can compleetly trust anyone I know in real life. Freinds, family, or random kids at school.
[ irritability, anger, or anxiety ]
[ inability to concentrate ] - Usually, in my classes, I'm not thinking about the lesson, I'm thinking about what's already ahppened in my life and what I'm scared is going to happen in my future

[ significant weight loss or gain ] - I don't know if this counts but, when my dad and I moved away from my mom I gained 40 pounds in a short amout of time from over eating.
[ significant change in sleep patterns ] - Not sure if this counts either but, I set my alarm to wake me up in the middle of the night so I can have some more time to think.
[ feelings of guilt or worthlessness ] - My dad's always pressuring me to get good grades and ever since I've started middle school i've been getting nothing but C's D's and F's. I don't know why. I was a straight A student last year...
aches and pains (even though nothing is physically wrong)
pessimism and indifference (not caring about anything in the present or future) - I care about my future and what happining to me now is making me doubt that I'll have a good one.

Thoughs of death and suicide

Also, I hate being in public because I feel like I'm being judged by everyone around me. I don't like people putting me down, I already know what's wrong with me. I try to avoid school dances or other events.
I like being alone. In my room.

If you look at my last question, I can't remember anything good that's happened to me. (If I do, It's associated with a bad thing. For example, I had my fifth birthday party at a pool. I remember being embarrassed. And That's it. I don't remember anything else.)

why don't you go see your school counselor? At the beginning it might be a intimidating or weird.. but they are professionals that can help you get over some of these things..no that doesn't mean your crazy or anything or if you don't wan't to go when somebody sees you talk to a teacher you like to give you a pass during class. What you're going through isn't easy, and they can help, or at least lend an ear you know.. someone that won't judge you and have a neutral stance and is willing to help. Hey, my heart goes out to you, and I'll tell you the most important advice that has changed my life for the better at some of the worst moments. That is to "Try to find something positive in it" even though it might seem hard, try it.

Sounds to me like you could be dealing with depression, but the divorce of your parents seems to have had an impact as well. You really should go see a doctor to make sure there isn't something else (possibly more serious) going on. If the doctor determines you are suffering depression, there are a number of medications that can be prescribed that will make a huge difference.

I was treated for depression about 3 years ago and once the medication started working it made a world of difference.

Hi Neonrevolver,

I truly empathize with you. I know that you are going through a lot of stuff that is emotionally snow-balling into something you can't get your arms around right now. I know this is probably not easy, but I would talk to your dad. Tell him what you're going through and mention that you think it's a good idea for you to see someone. We all go through tough times. Lean on your dad for help, and it will make your relationship with him grow stronger.

you have all the symptoms of depression..not the chemical imbalance kind but from all the changes you are going through..remember that you are not alone. it sounds like your parents realy love you.. especially your dad....maybe a talk with him is in order.. he mor than likely is very concerned about you.he might be the best person to start talking to about this...divorce realy sucks.. have been through 2 of those myself and my parents ent through it..counseling would be a good optioon.. maybe a school counselor can refer you to the right person..keep your head up and remember that you are Gods child and he loves you too..so get the ball rolling and talk to dad or a school counselor

You have already answered your own question. You exhibit many symptoms of depression and should seek the assistance of a therapist for effective ways to treat it.

It does not sound like you are depressed because of a chemical imbalance, but you very well could be depressed by circumstances in your life. So...I really think you should try to get some help. :(

I had many similar conditions as you and I had severe depression...Id recommend seeing your regular doctor. He or she can diagnose the depression and maybe get you on some medication in addition to counseling if needed.
